Y’all love a good melon and this one is good in that it’s entertaining and rather harmless to reputation. Period homespun story C-drama Romance on the Farm premiered recently and so far the reviews and viewership is decent, from the outside reminds me of New Life Begins but swap out farm life for palace life. Starring Zeng Shun Xi and Tian Xi Wei, neither spur me to watch their dramas but I also find both getting better and also less bland and more personality onscreen over time. He gives off lunky big boy vibes while she’s the perky girl next door image. Turns out both are hot heads with spitfire personalities and insiders say during filming the production kept a close eye on them in case they got into a fight and came to blows. And the worry was that during a fight Zeng Shun Xi can’t beat Tian Xi Wei. Mwahaha, that’s hilarious and goes with her personality that is reportedly very tomboy unlike her image. Recently Zeng Shun Xi was dragged for taking three days to respond to Tian Xi Wei’s SNS post as during a drama airing the leads are supposedly to selling the OTP by being chummy and interacting with fans. But no worries, there is no bad blood they got along decently during filming just not BFFs so all that worry was for naught.
Hmmm, he does give the aura of a boy-next-door who was bullied growing up.
I expect all that anger to translate to hot chemistry on screen. Now, I want to watch this!

I saw a video clip of her trying to princess carry Wang Hedi during filming of Guardians of Dafeng, and she dropped him. Then they showed a clip of her trying to carry Zeng Shunxi, and she actually was able to keep him lifted for like a split second, and he was surprised. I’m sure they got along fine, and maybe just a bickering pair like they are in the drama.
I’m up to episode 10 and i like it so far. Although the plot is not very compelling whatsoever, but it has a light and refreshing vibe to it and I guess I’m just in the mood for these type of dramas recently.
I read that tian xiwei’s reputation before entering this industry wasn’t good. Like she smoked, cheated in exams and play truant. Seeing her get cast in multiple dramas as female lead, I wonder if her personality is better now…
She’s continued to get into controversies after her debut for cursing in the past, allegedly being belligerent in reality, mocking Lay’s answer from an interview, shading Ju Jingyi’s title as “1000 Years Beauty”, and stealing resources from Li Landi (along with her passive aggressive response to it). So although her face and public persona is very sweet and bubbly, many netizens don’t believe she’s as wholesome and harmless as she portrays herself. She’s also dated Qu Chuxiao, a smoker with a bad boy image and domestic violence allegations. It doesn’t help that her agent was exposed for trying to make her actors more popular by smearing the reputation of other actors managed by an ex-friend. For these reasons, Tian Xiwei is said to be a ticking time bomb. Some people predict she’ll become the next Zheng Shuang.
Sounds like a passive marketing tactics to drive more viewers to watch this drama. I personally find Joseph Zeng a actor who can delivery if the character fits him. But he is not a actor I follow.
He clearly has a good management agency who can get him a great number good scripts. In Mysterious Lotus Casebook, his character fits the dynamics of the other 2 characters. And he did well in the drama.

Tian Xiwei is actually talented so I will give this a go once it is done for her. He does nothing for me but he doesn’t bother me either. I am actually not sure if that is a good or bad thing for an actor.
Not really a fan of family centered dramas but Tian Xi Wei’s adorable scheming/outsmarting the other family member and Little Seven’s cuteness is the fun part of this dram that keeps me tuned in. I think the leads look great regardless of whatever issues.
These days only wholesome drama that I like is Hilarious Family. It doesn’t try to be over serious dramatic something with lame execution. It is really just parody and slapstick humor with a little slice of life about sisterhood and family (not really big on epic romance). Reminds me of longmen express.
