Goodness is this one of those castings where I think one half is just so woefully miscast I don’t even know how the end result could possibly come out. Upcoming xianxia C-drama Shui Long Yin (Water Dragon Chant) has cast the leads with Luo Yun Xi and Lin Yun (Jelly Lin), with the former capable of overacting but no one would ever accuse him of not being able to act and the latter basically unable to act her way out of an open box. This drama would be Luo Yun Xi’s big male lead headlining S+ drama and now it’s got Jelly and I’m laugh crying like whut. The supporting cast includes Xiao Shun Yao, Bao Shang En, and Chen Yao, but I’m still stuck on Jelly with her beyond blank face. The teaser poster is out below so enjoy and hhhmmm keep expectations in check I guess.
Wow, I am interested in this casting…esp the second male lead. Will definitely catch this.

Is Ms Koala biased against Luo Yunxi in any way? I notice a lot of your articles don’t seem to portray him in a flattering light. Or his accomplishments go unreported on your site. His recent stint as the Friendship Ambassador to Thailand was not even covered here. Has Ms Koala even watched enough of Yunxi’s dramas before passing an unfair judgment that he is only “capable of overacting”? All I know is Yunxi is a very serious and sincere actor who always hones his craft in acting. His acting is very natural and he imbues a soul into every different role he plays. So please be fair and watch his dramas properly before misleading readers here that he overacts when that’s not true at all. Besides do note that Yunxi’s talents go beyond acting. Go google his list of accomplishments and you will realise good acting skills is only one of his talents. He is an accomplished award winning ballet dancer before he joined the entertainment scene, he does a lot of his own stunts in fighting scenes, he sings well, he dubs his own voice in dramas, he is an avid LOL gamer with professional level playing skills, he plays the piano, he has amazing Chinese calligraphy skills and he’s called D神 (D God) because of his music composing ability. His talents don’t even end here. Come on please be fair to Luo Yunxi who is actually a very humble, sincere and kind individual despite his multiple talents.

Fans of Luo Yunxi will understand him and love him because he is worth it. Luo Yunxi is known for having a humble attitude in the industry. People who have worked with him only have praises for him for being professional, diligent, kind and amazingly handsome in person. During a photoshoot, the director was so surprised to see Luo Yunxi folded and stacked the clothes he wore for the fashion shoot neatly after the photo shoot. He will often try to help and clear up the scene with the drama crew. He greets the crew working with him with respect. He does not have airs around him. He is just nice and down to earth. Not even sure why people will misunderstand such a wonderful individual like him. Please give Luo Yunxi the love and recognition he rightly deserves.

I’m a fan too 🙌. He is the only actor I check out daily for on the MDL page so that says a lot (for me).
I almost wish Koala don’t mention him at all because of the mean comments and nitpicking his name brings up.
Anyway, anyone interested can check out his under-rated dramas, Broker, which was so emotionally-draining, and Light Chaser Rescue, relatively mild emotionally, but the physical rescue scenes efforts by him(and the cast and crew) were top-notch.
Oh, I learnt more about Leo… but I am not surprised he is talented and hardworking. I am aware making production crew love working with him as he is always prepared for his scene and is a good team player.
Koala didn’t say he’s only “capable of overacting”, she said “capable of overacting but no one would ever accuse him of not being able to act”, with the emphasis on the latter. If no one would accuse him of not being able to act–that’s clearly high praise. (And readers like Eh above would clearly disagree with that praise.)
As for the occasional overacting–isn’t that just part and parcel of the kind of role LYX sometimes (often) plays? Like in Till The End of the Moon, didn’t he spend episodes on end spitting liters of blood? That kind of setup, isn’t it a direct invitation and launchpad for overacting?
I’m only here to show support for Luo Yunxi. Well, whether Ms Koala meant that as a sincere praise or said it in a mocking tone, only she knows best! Just look at her past articles on Luo Yunxi and his dramas. The lack of articles to celebrate his achievements etc. As a true fan, I will look forward to this new drama regardless of his co-stars so there’s no need to keep focusing on possible bad acting from his co-stars. True fans will wish the drama will turn out well. Anyway, fans of Luo Yunxi know he will handle any role amazingly well. Those who believe in him and support him, will do so no matter what. 🙂 So let’s wish this drama all the best! Positive vibes only!

Ι don’t really think so. She doesn’t seem to be his biggest fan, but the only reason I started watching Till the end of the moon was because she was praising it (and LYX) so much.
Thank you Starsoffire for your thorough summary of Mr. Luo’s superb talent. I find his knowledge & skills to be amazing & feel that he is held in high regard in China. From his side, you can see the great respect he holds for his country & hometown of Chengdu. Luo YunXi is the epitome of a true professional. His ability to deliver a highly effective & consistent performance repeatedly while instilling as you say a unique “soul” into each role is remarkable. Furthermore, when you see his writing, it is a beautiful original style of Calligraphy he developed & it is assigned an official name by the country of China. Additionally, he has won several awards for ballet at the National Level & brings this skill into his majestic movements throughout his filming. In 2013 Luo YunXi filmed his first drama “Flip in Summer” about a school diving team. Not only did he act, but he also learned to dive from all platforms including the 10 meter and included somersaults into dives, done very well. I believe Mr. Luo gives his best and his all each time he performs & works extremely hard to satisfy the audience and himself. Bravo Luo!
Yun Xi is fine, but a big No No to Jelly. I’m still sad that Chen Yao be playing second lead, but If I remember correctly I heard that there is no real FL or romance in this drama?

I am super excited with this news… Luo Yunxi and so many beautiful ladies, with his favorite story. Although I am not familiar with any of the ladies, I trust the casting team.
I also become interested in reading Chinese novels lately because of his dramas.. I hope I can find Shuilongyin in my country, too.
I really enjoyed his latest dramas: Till The End of Moon, and Love Is Panacea. I think Luo Yunxi always successfully creates nice sweet chemistry with female leads 👍👍👍👏👏👏
I am very curious of his + Chen Fei Yu combo in Immortality. I hope the drama will be aired soon, before it gets “too old.”
I may not be a BL drama fan but if the story is good, I will watch them.I am sincerely interested to watch Luo Yunxi’s screen chemistry with Chen Fei Yu too. To watch how he interact with a strong guy, that will make my year… I hope the drama does get released…
