SBS held the first drama awards of 2023 among the three big networks and it was a muted affair due to the days earlier passing of top actor Lee Seon Kyun. All the stars wore black except for one white and grey but there were definitely no one in anything colorful or eye catching. Kim Tae Ri and Lee Je Hoon shared the Daesang Award, her for Revenant and him for Taxi Driver 2. Kim Yoo Jung received the Best Couple Award for her and Song Kang who did end up missing the ceremony, and both took home acting awards as well. Netizens complained about the winners left and right but I don’t have any energy to weigh in on what is essentially a company awards dinner for its acting employees. SBS did pay tribute to the late Lee Seon Kyun with an In Memorium picture.

So many categories that winning one doesn’t mean anything anymore . Nam Goong Min winning the MBC Daesang is well deserved as he is one of the best actors . Kim Tae ri too . As much i as like Lee Joon , it depend on his roles . I like him in Taxi Driver but not to the point to win a Daesang . Still don’t understand the craze about My Demon couple . No natural chemistry , Ahn hyo Seop and Lee Sung Kyung have chemistry , Kim Min jae and So Joo Yun were so cute !
Taxi Driver was one of the few broadcast dramas that did well this past year – it was inevitable that he’d be recognized with a Daesang.
I agree. Despite Dr. Romantic 3 focusing on medical genre and a little on romance, Ahn Hyo Seop and Lee Sung Kyung flattered us with their natural chemistry. I still feel that they were robbed of the award.
dr. romantic couple was defo robbed. but song kang and kyj both have some of the loudest, most obnoxious fans and so sbs probably gave the couple awards to these two to appease their annoying fans 🤦♀️
@Cahill RIGHT? reminds me of the Asia Artists “emotive award”… like, what the eff does that even mean? they really out here giving participation trophies for everyone that the awards don’t hold that much weight anymore 😂😂😂

@PumpkinSpice, It’s true, they have a trophy for every category . Did Cannes , Oscars, have trophies for multiples actors and actresses ? No ! It’s why every actor in the world is overjoyed when they win one . It’s like the Graal ! There are a lot of great actors in kdramas but it’s always the ones with good ratings or popularity that win . Sometimes both match as for Nam Goong Min, Ji sung,…but Song Kang and Kim Yoo Jung for their role in My Demon 😂😂😂😂. A lot of veteran actors who play 2nd or 3rd roles should get the awards because for me they are really good if not the best !
@cahill, good points on award part. TBH, I still don’t get the buzz around My Demon. I seem to be on ep 10 forever without moving on cos I’ve been switching to check other dramas. In fact, the recently released Kdramas appear a bit lackluster to me. I’ve been actually re-watching some old dramas that I loved years ago. I’m re-watching Healer now and surprisingly I find it’s still fresh as if I were watching it the first time. I knew the ending and the major plot lines but don’t remember many details. Therefore, I’m still having a good time watching Healer again.
Chemistry is a very personal thing. I love My Demon couple. But for me the issue is to put a drama that is not over yet in the list. My Demon is the most buzzworthy, they have a lot of fans and it’s why they won, like King The Land in the APAN award.
Lee Joon was great in Taxi Driver. He did well in the emotional, action and comedic scenes. his role was pretty demanding for the action scenes. And Taxi Driver 2 had very high ratings. I prefered the first season and didn’t specially like the second one.
Dr Romantic 2 and 3 couple never beat the first couple. And KMH and SJY was awful as a couple. The writer completely forgot there was a time jump and they were dating for months… But it was like the time was frozen for them and they were starting the relationship like teenagers…
Sayaris to the rescue for her favorite otp awww. Dr. Romantic 3 may have not beat the first couple but they have real chemistry unlike My Demon couple who’s chemistry is very forced. And just like you said they only have a lot of fans that’s why they won. Just shut up because nobody agrees with you.

Most of the fans are international fans for My Demon and take note from a casual viewers.Because of Song Kang and Kim Yoo Jung’s chemistry, they accumulated NEW FANS.Though the ratings are not doing well domestically, it still dominates in OTT and even internationally. That’s the power they hold, the chemistry they hold, even offscreen.In short, their chemistry is one of the factors why it is popular internationally that accumulated viewers especially Cnetz who swoons over them. So it’s ridiculous, to say thay their chemistry is forced (tell that to chinese fans)🤣. The opinion “chemistry is force” is no compare to plurality who enjoy and got hooked to their chemistry. When it is the loudest means the chemistry is strong. Just accept the truth and move on . Don’t be bitter. To Millie, the bitter pls do some research on the criteria for best couple 🤣. So sad, the chemistry of Dr. Romantic couple has only few fans compared to My Demon couple’s chemistry. Also, “lots of fans” is a testament of a couple’s chemistry 🤣🙊
I think Millie is particularly targeting Sayaris because she always has a different opinion siding with My Demon lol. As much as I love AHS and LSK in Dr. Romantic 3, I agree with everything you said. But there’s nothing to be jealous about a mere participation award. In a sense, My Demon couple earned the award for having many fans.
I have watched many K dramas on Netflix, I thought some were very good I will admit I have only seen some that Kimyoojung has been in ,but I thought My Demon was well executed and the acting was fun to watch I enjoyed watching Song kang and yes the chemistry between the two actors was breathtaking so why would people condem ,if they didn’t watch the whole series and flicked through! I enjoyed ever minute of it and I applaud all the actors .
