Twas not the summer of Yang Yang and boy does he have a hole to climb back out of. But luckily for him, the flop that was Fireworks of My Heart doesn’t appear to be career breaking and also equal blame was placed on his female lead Wang Chu Ran. After the bad reviews he went off to film xianxia drama The Immortal Ascension (A Mortal’s Guide to Immortality) with Jin Chen and hopefully he took to heart the major number one critique of his acting which is “oily” meaning he’s kinda too cheesy. It’s been a decade since is debut and he’s got hit dramas under his belt but nothing to truly shake his limited actor reputation so let’s see how he fares in this big S-level drama where he gets top billing.
He can’t act at all but he is very pretty so as always I will check it out. Eye candy has its place.

It appears nobody cares about Yang Yang anymore? His popularity on Chinese SM like Douyin and Weibo also seems to fade away fast. I enjoyed his Whirlwind Girl I, Love 2O2, and You Are My Glory. I haven’t be able to finish any of his other dramas so far. I don’t like the FL of this drama, but not to the point that she’s definitely unwatchable like other actresses, e.g., Esther Yu. That being said, if everything else such as script/directing is decent, I’ll give a shot. I do wish Yang Yang a breakthrough on his career path. Visuals are a valuable asset in showbiz and he has them.
