K-drama The Price of Confession in Talks with Jeon Do Yeon and Kim Ji Won as the Leads

So this K-drama got a lot of news last year for being the project that would cast face-twins Song Hye Kyo and Han So Hee, and the two even teased it on their socials and tagged each other. In the end neither signed on to the thriller murder mystery K-drama The Price of Confession and the production quietly went about looking for new female leads. Now there are two new actresses in talk that mirror the veteran and young actress combo, with Jeon Do Yeon and Kim Ji Won partnering up as the two leads. I was fine with the original probably buzzier casting but this current one feels just as solid and may come with less expectation baggage.

  2. Let’s be very honest – this is a WAY stronger acting duo. Maybe it won’t have the international buzz it would’ve had with the initial cast, but the acting and domestic buzz should make up for that.

  3. I have nothing against Kim Ji Won, and have enjoyed watching her, but I don’t consider her anywhere Jeon Do Yeon’s level of sheer acting ability. I hope it’s not too lopsided

    • Very few actors are near Jeon Doyeon’s level, she is one of the best actresses in the world, Cate Blanchett level or maybe even better. Having said that, as a Kim Jiwon fan, I would still like her to take on this role as it will be a good challenge for her if she works hard to act well and hold her own against Jeon Doyeon. She has improved steadily since the setbacks of Arthdal and Lovestruck so at this stage there’s nowhere to go but up. At the very least, she will learn from an esteemed senior and get to do something other than romance.

      • Cate Blanchett, Kate Winslet, Sally Hawkins, Isabelle Huppert,… and one of the best sensible actresses of all the time , the late Romy Schneider.

  4. it’s somewhat funny to see Kim Ji Won seen as a “young actress” when she’s been acting in major roles since 2013. Yes she’s young in age but she’s a seasoned professional career-wise

  5. Heck yeah! Kim Ji Won won is a very talented, versatile actress who deserves prestige projects like this with a co-star like miss Jeon Do Yeon and Kim Soo Hyun (Queen of Tears). Wild to me that she’s only getting these types of projects now when she already proved how talented she is in various dramas, heck, even her cameo in Mr. Sunshine was amazing! Nevertheless, better late than never! Rooting for this!

  6. Isn’t this the drama where director and/or some other production team quit as well? Kind of messy behind the scenes. I love both actresses so will definitely check it out if it materialises. Kim Jiwon should be a lot more buzzier than her current position with her looks and talent, she feels so low profile.

  7. I love the acting of both of them. Yes, Kim Jiwon is not near Jeon Doyeon’s level yet. But she’s good and I hope she will learn a lot with this project (if accepted).

Sadly, this news was a feast to haters of the first couple. But since the director changed, the vision of the drama also changed, so of course they would change the actresses. It is not because they are not good actresses themselves. There are a lot of other factors as schedule. why people are so basic and go for the hateful option?

  8. I don’t know what kind of level Jeon Do Yeon is, which Kim Ji Won should grow up to, what here are talking about.
Kim Ji Won is a good versatility actress and plays well in every role, that’s not enough?

    • Jeon Do Yeon is a Meryl Streep/Cate Blanchett/Kate Winslet level actress, like @Cahill mentioned. She was the first Korean to win Best Actress at Cannes. I don’t think the comments above were necessarily mean, speaking as a fan of Kim Jiwon, her fandom is very excited to see her get the opportunity to work with Jeon Doyeon. I think she will rise to the challenge. I would rather she work with acclaimed veterans rather than with Hallyu stars (no offence to them).

    • Jeon Do Yeon is basically a much respected veteran and award-winning Korean actress who has been on the drama&movie industry, long before you were born

      • Lol, I know who Jeon Do Yeon is, i didn’t talk about this. I said what Kim Ji Won is a good actress, and she can play well with veterans. She has no problem in acting, this is why i didn’t understand phrases about her level

  9. If this is happening, 2024 is definitely KJW year. I’m rooting hard for her. She is so beautiful and very good actress. I like her a lot than PSH in Heirs even though she’s the antagonist.

  10. Both teams bring different things to the table. Song Hye Kyo and Han So Hee would have brought old Hollywood glam to the drama, but the paring of Jeon Do Yeon and Kim Ji Won is not inferior acting wise and just as strong in the acting department. Looking forward to this. And still hope SHK and HSH can collaborate in another project in the future.

  11. @Layaan, thank you :). Got 2 starters here. I usually check red carpet fashion awards .com but it’s so western designers centric who are not creative…most are just usual boring outfits. I’ll check these instas now.
