tvN Mon-Tues Drama Marry My Husband Stays High in 7% Ratings Despite Dispatch Article on Park Min Young

I remember many times K-netizens claiming to be outraged by a star and wanting to boycott this and that but it almost always ends up being decided on quality. Last year some thought Jo Byung Kyu‘s bullying allegations were never resolved and didn’t want to watch The Uncanny Counter 2, but it turns out the drama ratings never met the first season because the second season was bigger in scope and sadly badder in quality. So this week with Park Min Young under scrutiny again for her prior relationship with a now ex-boyfriend who turned out to be a financial crook thanks to a new article from Dispatch questioning her earlier statement about not receiving any money from him, it has not impacted her currently airing drama Marry My Husband which stayed above 7% in ratings this week and even went up a tiny bit on Tuesday for a new drama high. Glad to see a drama being watched and judged on its objective quality and not on ancillary noise.

  1. I am still enjoying this… It is fun to watch…when the drama ends, I go, where did time go??

I enjoy like the supporting leads…those cheating couple is mean yet funny. Both artiste did a great job as the baddies. Even the lazy Captain makes me laugh.

After yesterday’s plane incident where the arrogant boss expect the sit next to him to be free. I read a article on SCMP this morning, about some rich China man who bought 2 first class tickets but expects his son who is 2+yrs to be upgraded to first class for free from economy booking… OMG, such people really exist. Such sense of entitlement is beyond me.

  2. I’ve been enjoying this drama so far. The antagonists did a great job being despicably disgusting and funny. LOL.

It appears Asian media and netizens appreciate tabloids more than drama. I wonder what jobs in real life these K netizens are doing. They’ve got so much time to privy into celebrities’ private life as if they didn’t have to make a living at all. LOL

    • @Somebody, I agree, I feel the 2 antagonists will gain the most from this drama especially the male actor. He played his character very well…all on point.

I hope they can keep momentum… dont want the writing to drop in quality at all…

      • Yup! The actor who played PMY’s ex stood out. He did a great job! I want to see him in other roles cos this one role is just so obnoxiously nausea-worthy but very funny at the same time. LOL. That’s definitely a skill.

      • @HL I love Lee Yikyung (her ex). He is such a versatile actor. I also watched him in Go Back Couple and I could not stop laughing at his character. He’s also played more serious roles like in Children of Nobody.

      • @Soph, I agree, he a very good actor. He is a very experience actor. I just found out he comes from a wealthy family, not that it matters, just a tiny gossip. lol

      • Yeah, it’s great that they’re not the over-the-top type of villain, just subtly seems to be good people but actually the biggest scum. I’m tired of Kdrama having the actors acting like they’re deranged or something lol

      • @Yuhyi, what winds me up is the shouting… Honestly, I know many viewers in SK like it. But it is really doing my head in sometimes.

      • I just googled and found out this talented actor (at least in Marry My Husband) LYK wasn’t a nugu. There are actually quite a few pieces of English news about him. He’s been known for being a good comedian. I’ll check his dramas in other roles, better something not goofy to see if he’s versatile. LOL.

      • LYK is a versatile actor, he made me laugh so hard in Laugher in Waikiki season one, Go back couple , and his best performance is in Children of Nobody . That makes him a great actor , in France it is said that being a comedic actor is the hardest thing and that they are also the ones who can deliver great performances in dramatic roles . Aren’t the best ballads written by hard rock bands ? Even some of the greatest actors of the world as Daniel Day Lewis,… aren’t able to be good at both . Bill Murray, Jim Carey , Robert Downey Jr…are able to do that .

      • @cahill, my favorite hard rock band Bon Jovi were crazy on stage but they did write quite a few pieces of beautiful ballads. LOL. You excited my inner hard rock fan. I accidentally came across Bon Jovi’s It’s My Life on Youtube when I listened to Imagine Dragon and fell in love with the band since. I had no idea he was a star in 80s though. LOL.

I’ll check out those dramas you mentioned. Thanks. You’ve recommended me quite a few good dramas.

      • @Somebody, i like Imagine dragon , Bon Jovi was really popular during my teen days . Their most popular ballad ” Always “, i was a fan of Fall out boys, …but as i’m old i’m from the generation of Nirvana, but also NKOTB, Backstreet boys, Tears for fears, Depeche mode,
Oasis, i’m one of the 1st fans of Coldplay , George Michael wrote one of my favorite songs of all the time “Praying for time” , but i like to listen Abba, Credence clear water, Blondie, Toto, Queen, Motown’s singers too …thanks to my parents .These days a lot of CF use old songs as Chanel with T Chalamet, Nights in white satin, Or Mademoiselle de Chanel with Follow me by Amanda Lear, …it’s good as the new generation discovers classics ! Koreans like the great voices, divas , in France it’s more about lyrics , we are not a nation of great voices but there is a singer who took a classic Adagio by Alberoni and sang it with lyrics a few years ago , she was amazing .

      • @Cahil, wow you basically spelt out the history of mainstream western pop across different genres. I’m not familiar with most of these bands/singers although heard about their names before. But I do listen to Queen and Coldplay sometimes. “Always” by Bon Jovi is one my faves among his hit songs that I already bookmarked the music vid long ago. I do have a French band I like very much – Daft Punk. It’s a shame they are not active anymore. Daft Punk has made revolutionary impacts on synth pop and dance music. I love their “Get Lucky.”

    • Back to rave about Lee Yikyung. He’s good as a cop and also the ML in Children of Nobody. I’m addicted to this drama now. There’s no romance so far but the FL is Kim Sun-a and she’s so good. I remember her in My Lovely Sam Soon costarring with Hyun Bin where she was so impressive as a chubby cook. I respect LYK as a pro actor and he’s been so good at his roles in the only two dramas I’m watching. I hope he’ll get more lead roles like the detective one in Children of Nobody. Why not? When he’s not acting goofy, he actually has certain charms, looking very handsome and manly. LOL. It’s totally opposite to his funny image of disgusting lewd douchebag in Marry My Husband. Such a talent! Kdrama please give him more MLs like in Children of Nobody. Just kick out some flower faces who can’t act! 😭

  3. It’s good for her.

I think the drama is pretty bad but it doesn’t deserve to be cancelled. People should learn to separate the private life and the professional one of the celebrities. They should be seen as model for the society. They’re just entertainer.

  4. I’m enjoying the drama, nothing revolutionary, but easy and fun watch , the cast is doing good, perfect for january . Off of topic but there is a drama which i find good and underated , it’s The Matchmakers . Sad .

    • The Matchmakers was a gem! So well written and directed! It was a fusion sageuk but so different from the other ones.

When I watch other dramas, I miss Lady Park, she was the best villain!

Now, Like Flowers in the Sand is really good and Tell Me That You Love Me (even if I don’t like the main actress) too. There are the only airing shows that are well written for me.

      • @Sayaris, i’m also watching and loving Flowers in Sand . Jang Dong Yoon is doing a great performance , but he rarely deceives ,if i remember well both of us like him in Dance sport club ( a gem) . I have a soft spot for RoWoon and he was good but Jo Yi Hyun was the best, she played her character subtlely … I miss the author of the “erotic novels” too!

      • I prefered Rowoon because he could balance the sageuk ton and the comedy that a lof of actors can’t. He had a great body timing for comedy too. Cho Yi Hyun lacked the necessary sageuk ton, she sounded very modern at the beginning. But overall I liked her and it was the first time because I didn’t like her in her past dramas.

      • I said in previous posts about his dramas that Rowoon has a really good sense of comedy . Timing is the most important thing to deliver well a comical line or situation . Even in Tomorrow and The king’s affection he had this . I said that the actress was the best because i have only watch a drama with her ” School 2021″ which was bad . So when i began watching The matchmakers i was hesitant but she did really well .

  5. As it should lol, I fail to see how a lead actor’s personal life should impact how people enjoy the drama, the exception being if one of the cast committed a super vile crime, which isn’t the case here. Good for the cast and crew!

  6. I think it’s simple: netizens don’t really care and they are enjoying the drama. Ihe scammer boyfriend is old news, they already split up well over a year ago and PMY herself wasn’t seriously implicated in anything.

  7. Fun drama to watch. PMY never disappoints in her acting, she can always somehow draw an audience despite how stupid the plots may seem. Supporting cast is good in this drama too.

    • I am enjoying this not because this drama is amazingly written…but it is just entertaining to work. All the cast really make this believable.

      • Yes, same!

Dang! I’m surprised I’ve been agreeing with you recently on almost all your comments. LOL. What did we ever fight for?

      • Lol, Nothing to take to heart… Just say our piece and move on…No online enemies for me. Except trolls, i tend to ignore them.
