So those of us on a C- or K-drama lull starting this new year in 2024 get ready for dramas galore to drop now and through lunar new year. The first to arrive is the adaptation of the Chinese Paladin 4 video game and the drama is titled Sword and Fairy 4 and stars Ju Jing Yi and Chen Zhe Yuan (in that billing order). This is not to be confused with Sword and Fairy which is based on Chinese Paladin 6 video game and stars Xu Kai and Yu Shu Xin, which is also airing any day now. Like earlier posts on CP4 explained, there was zero promos for this drama due to the production waffling on billing order but as rumored it just decided to honor the original contracts and air drop this sucker wholesale. The first posters and previews came out along with the first 6 episodes of the drama today so off you go to enjoy/not enjoy depending on whether it’s any good.

The production team didn’t even clarify the billing issue too π since the artists’ agency signed 2 different contracts with them.
what really? was czy contract actually first billing too?
I think someone commented that JJY was first signed on and looks like they decided to honor the equal billing instead.

the official Weibo made two posts with the cast names, and listed her name first in the first post, then his name first in the second post. They wrote in parentheses for both post that it was in no particular order. [insert eye roll]. I donβt like Ju Jingyi as an actress but still think they did her dirty on this one.
I wonder if it’s true that HIS contract said equal billing and that he was misled.

No way, he was a nobody when this was signed. He just doesn’t understand he is still a nobody but he is signed under iQiyi and the production, when you peel off the layers, is iQiyi business partner. They are trying to push their actor, as they always do.
JJY finally got a more decent headpiece. LOL. I’ll check it out and watch if the plot is interesting although I’ll keep my expectation low.

No,they’re both equal billing (no particular order sorted) is written after their name. For some reason, Chen Zheyuan actually deserve top billing position because it is ml centric drama. But they can cast someone else. Why they casted someone who was more popular than him.Ju Jingyi also senior actress even if she is mainly singer.In YAMG top billing position sorted by age, in some contrast Ju Jingyi also deserve top billing position and also they contracted her for 1st billing position.Production team really sucks.
If this is a male centric drama then he deserves to have first billing or equal billing, I don’t think it’s his fault but rather the production

And he is so arrogant for someone who had one hit, thanks to ZLS and who the flopped hugely in the next drama. He will never be a star but all these youngsters sure have an ego of one.

No, he signed to be a second lead then thought he is god’s gift to mankind for having a one hit drama.
The only reason he got equal billing is because he is signed to iQiyi and the production is iQiyi’s partner so they could harass her until she gave in. She didn’t so they had to settle for equal billing because legally, they couldn’t push her out.
She also now has to deal with having angered powerful people because of this nobody that will remain a nobody.
CZY was co-1st bill for Handsome Siblings, so it’s not unthinkable for him to be listed as equal billing for another drama of similar scale.

No hate to CZY but he always try to get top billing position. Even in Hidden Love his wanted equal billing with Zhao Lusi. Zhao Lusi was very popular at that time that’s why he didnβt get top billing position. I actually didnβt care billing position. Ju Jingyi fans also always want to see her in top billing position. Both of then forget, well written character is more important than top billing position. Yang Zi fans also fight for top billing.
It’s production team faults.
I loved CZY’s character in HL but outside of filming, he seems like a very unfriendly person. It seems like he never smiles at his fans or even when he’s taking their letter, he doesn’t even look at the person & just grab the stuff & go & no waving bye either. I wonder if some fans did him dirty for him to act that way.
