C-drama The Spirealm Adapted from BL Novel Kaleidoscope of Death is Released in One Drop Only to Get Removed Less than 30 Minutes Later
/l;p[-0OMG this is both so ballsy, funny, alarming, and goodness the biggest news of C-ent this weekend. A small budget C-drama titled The Spirealm (what an awful title) adapted from the BL novel Kaleidoscope of Death was unexpectedly and with no announcement released by iQiyi streaming in its entirety of 78-episodes each 20 minutes long on Friday February 2nd. It was one of those BL novel adaptations that has been on ice for the last two years since the crackdown on the genre as being bad for the morals of Chinese society and whatnot. Fans went crazy and started to watch only to see the entire series removed from the platform within 30 minutes of the release. Like, THAT FAST. Insiders are saying that the production knew it would get pulled but used it to lure in viewers knowing that it would get pirated/ripped asap and then those who want to keep watching would find a way and the production could somehow recoup some costs. Not sure how but this whole thing around BL adapted dramas feels like a giant cat and mouse game at this point.
Gov is homophobic…sad.
At this point, investing in BL is throwing your money down the drain. lol
How to download in 30min? Why not just sell to netflix?
My bet is that the platform already made some agreement with a few pirated sites, this 30-min time frame is just for show.
Legally, you can’t sell anything that does not have a broadcasting licence in China itself.

have seen the earlier episodes, albeit with rushed unpolished subtitle. there was no indication of romantic BL in the series – ok the main characters express care and concern but why can’t they when they are of the same team trying to escape a death game.
the series is promising and fresh for mystery thriller enthusiasts.
good that the production is done; there is hope that it can be available in another format or platform. unlike Justice in the Dark (early 2023)

that was suddenly pulled out and no chance of completely seeing the whole series.
