Cha Eun Woo Transforms into a Bike Riding Welder in New Drama Wonderful World

I give Cha Eun Woo credit for taking on drama after drama and continuing to improve. His micro expressions and quite decent comedic timing in his most recent drama A Good Day to be a Dog reminded me yet again that in the right role he’s quite pleasing and pleasant to watch onscreen. He is also willing to expand beyond the rom-com or school yard roles that his good looks are well suited for, and his next drama is the MBC revenge thriller Wonderful World which despite its title seems quite bleak for female lead Kim Nam Joo. She loses her child and decides to get her own revenge against the killer and along the way encounters others dealing with their own injustices. I’m not sensing a romantic love line, thank god due to the subject matter and also the age difference, but a good revenge thriller with perhaps a meaningful second chance optimism always hits the spot when done right.

  1. I hope he will be better than in A Good Day to Be a Dog. But he didn’t have so much to do and still failed, so it’s not reassuring for a more complicated role.

    • I think Good Day to Be A Dog also suffered very much from its schedule which was originally at once a week, then was also cancelled several times for football or some event.

      • Not really. The story was pretty bad. The villain’s revenge didn’t make sense in the first place.

But it doesn’t really matter, he couldn’t emote at all. His character was a nice and warm man not a robot…

  2. No romance for him…he does better. And if he has a strong senior working along side with him. That takes the pressure of him, he can be more relax when he acts.

    • I agreed with this. In Island, the character fit so well for him. Even with top notch lead, he was not overshadowed. His melo story arch w/ his brother was compelling along w/ his stable acting there. But then, the drama “Dog…” came after and he goes back to being criticized for his acting again. The female lead there was also very bad too (her character was really one note and I’ve seen her better & her potential).

Hence, I sense this drama will do more good then bad for his acting career.

    • I agree with this, maybe senior actors makes it easier to emote the character for actors playing opposite of them. Or maybe because cha eunwoo is not suitable for romance drama so it ended up like that. He was pretty cool in island
