Zhao Jin Mai and Zhou Yi Ran in Talks for Youth Romance C-drama Cherry Amber

This C-drama adaptation of the youth romance novel Cherry Amber (English title Our Generation) has been in talks for a few years now but it’s normal in C-ent for a long lead up to the casting. Prior years have floated the possibility of Wu Lei and Zhao Lu Si reuniting for this but both have leveled up and moved on. Now it’s apparently on the fast track to get made and the female lead will be Zhao Jin Mai, who is all but confirmed, and the male lead is in talks with Zhou Yi Ran. I like Zhou Yi Ran but he looks really young still even if he’s actually two years older in real life than also currently rising young actor Wang Xing Yue. I think Zhou Yi Ran can do any school age role thanks to When I Fly Towards You but am wondering what his upside will be once he’s past that and goes full adult onscreen.

  1. I keep thinking her head is too big for her body. I’m sure it’s the camera angle, but it’s not just this photo. She is one of the rising stars, for sure.

  2. C-ent is pretty good with youth romance genre genre.

By the way, I’m surprised there’s no news here about all the recent commotion on the Magnolia Awards. Wang Yibo’s fans kicking up a BIG fuss about Wang Yang stealing Wang Yibo’s nomination for the Best Actor LOL, when everyone else agreed that Wang Yang’s acting is miles better.

C-netz also ridiculed the Magnolia Awards for voting Lost You Forever into the Best Actress and Best Art Direction categories with mediocre acting and subpar CGI.

    • I read about that too and laughed. I am just happy to know awards are given to the deserved not just the top liuliangs.

As for Best Actress… I may like Yang Zi but her acting style may not appeal top many. I too dont watch all her drama… just a few. But Lost You Forever is popular in China and Yang Zi is popular with many locals..

As for CGI…in time, I hope that will change but that is not going to happen in coming years…especially in Dramaland where budget is smaller.

      • For Yang Zi, it’s probably because there’s a few other candidates whom C-netz think deserve the nomination over her. As for the CGI, the panel shouldn’t give LYF a nomination in that particular category if it’s not good, there’s other categories available which wouldn’t have incurred doubts and ridicule from C-netz.

  3. Does anyone see anything wrong with JJM’s picture here? It looks like the head is too big for the body. Am I the only one who is seeing that? Thanks! 🤔🤔🤔
