Well okay, shocks may be a little excessive what with the rumors of the two dating for many years now, but it does seem completely out of nowhere in timing for right now. C-actress Wu Jin Yan and actor Hong Yao mutually announced their marriage today posting on their own Weibo accounts the same pictures of them getting their marriage certificate registration and showing it off. The two met in 2018 filming period drama The Story of Yanxi Palace where she was the female lead and he was a supporting actor playing one of the many princes in the Aisin Goro royal family. Tabloids have caught them reportedly at each other’s residences and fans have spotted couple items but since neither were super big stars together the dating rumors happened and died down. Looks like they weathered the mercurial entertainment world in the past 6 years and are ready to take it to the next phase. Congrats to the couple!
Lovely news, lovely couple. I am glad they stopped hiding around. I am now seriously rooting for Wu Jin Yan and for her husband too, though I don’t remember him in Yanxi Palace and I don’t think I have seen him anywhere else. Good looking guy.

Well, she is allowed to get married whenever she wants so the people complaining should really mind their own business. She’s also getting older, ideally people get married when they get older, career isn’t everything in life.
She isn’t doomed. She’s not a liuliang actress like her labelmate Bai Lu who uses dating news or CP to generate hype for a drama. Imo WJY carved a niche for herself in female centric/revenge dramas, and the drama she’s currently filming is also a non-romance one. I don’t think marriage news will affect her as long as her acting doesn’t become bad like last time.
It’s because the man has a lot of scandals so they see it as her marrying down. It all seemed to happen before they were dating though and they’ve been together for years so for her sake, I hope he’s worth it.

Yu Zheng is happy yand wrote a whole essay to congratulate them, it’s pretty touching IMO (he says WYJ told him first that she wanted to get married to him, and asked for his opinions, and defended the guy’s past plus said people shouldn’t judge who is more famous, because fame is ultimately just a means to lead a happier life, and ended off saying that he wishes the best for their mareiage and as their agency boss he will do his best for their careers) but cnetizens kept saying he was trying to take credit for their union and sound like a benevolent boss because he talked about his agency a lot.
I actually think YZ despite all his flaws treats his agency actors quite well barring Song Weilong maybe, i.e. he hangs out with them and gets them decent roles regardless of their popularity and fame. He also clearly has no issue with them dating given that Xukai has dated almost every actress in Huanyu lol, and Bai Lu dated Zhang Linghe with Yuzheng’s approval. It’s one of the less opaque agencies in that Yuzheng talks constantly about his artists so they are always in the discussion on socmed

Delivering the level of chemistry she did in The Double with WXY while being in a relationship all this time just shows what a solid actress she is. Jun Ji Hyun delivered major chemistry with Kim Soo Hyun in one of the most popular KDrama pairings of all time the year after she got married. I will still be anticipating WJY’s future reunion drama with WXY.
The truth is that Chinese artists are different than Korean actors who stay singles even in their 40s, when Chinese actors hit 35y they are either getting married/already married or married and divorced, they are just so good at hiding it

Why do some people feel like actors/actresses owe them something when it comes to their personal life?
