Jung Hae In and Jung So Min Fly to Bali for Couple’s Photoshoot Midway Through Love Next Door and Have to Deny Dating Rumors — 39 Comments

  1. After watching their onscreen chemistry in this drama, I find it hard to believe there’s anything more than professional courtesy or friendship between these two.

I recall watching ‘Father Is Strange’ seven years ago. The chemistry between Jung So Min and Lee Joon was ablaze, you could light up a skyscraper with it. So it came as no surprise to find out that they fell in love onscreen and dated for some years later in real life. It’s so different from what I’m seeing in this drama. So if the production wants a sell a rumor to buoy up their viewership, more power to them. But as a regular watcher of Jung So Min’s dramas, I find it difficult to buy it.

  3. I love them both individually but they just seem to be best friends, in my opinion. When I watched their interviews, they are comfortable with each other. It shows they really enjoyed filming the drama. It’s the type of friendship that looks like will last for years

    • They are friendly in interviews but keep a respectful distance.

Almost makes me wonder if one or both of them are in secret real relationships- and therefore being careful to maintain professional boundaries.

  4. A part of me is just praying they get married like Son ye jin and Hyun bin. If it happens, I’ll probably be happier than the bride and groom combined 😂😂

  5. I actually enjoy their chemistry in the drama so I guess I’m one of the few. If they’re willing to go the extra mile and nothing is hindering then hooray for their fans!

  6. I think the chemistry is fine for a friends (and bickering at that) to lovers relationship. The otp scenes where SH realises his feelings and SR suspecting and SH on torn about confessing… chemistry is there in spades in a charged way.

The cancer trope I smelled it from a mile away… it’s either that or she had depression or was burned out.
This drama is OK, nothing to shout about but I can get behind the otp.

As for reel to real… I’m not feeling any no shipping vibe from this pair, though they make a cute couple if it does happen.

  7. I think in most cases they wouldn’t choose to date each other. It’s “easier” dating a non celebrity or like Hu Ge, Leon Lai n countless other celebrities to date their manager. Almost every Asian rom com is trying to pair the ML n FL. In reality it doesn’t happen very often. Didn’t they do this with Suzy n Bo Gum n made it seem like they are lovers. Most of the time they are just good friends.

  8. @gem you were saying? Dating rumours here you go, so common for onscreen romantic couples 😂😂
I love how as lnd fans we keep winning with all this content, I can see why fans of other shows are pressed haha.

    • Did it start because their chemistry is fire on the show or because they left for Bali all on a sudden and everyone wondered why? Did you check the naver comments and scathing articles that came out after episode 8. This is PR damage control after the viewers complaining massively. Whether that will sail them safely towards episode 16 without any more negativity and complaints remains to be seen. Let the weekend episodes run first dear.

      • They have not yet leave to Bali..there is misinformation in this article . They will go to Bali one week before the show end..on the 24th of September. Because it is unusual to shoot couple pictorial overseas after the promotion period end..that’s why there’s the dating rumor.

  9. If two attractive popular actors without official relationship filming with each other, there are dating rumors. Unfortunately, it’s a common thing in k-drama land.

  10. Yeah, hello classic attempt by the production to get some heat going. I think it’s funny. There is nothing there and it is very obvious.

  11. If this is truly PR, when I think tvN wrong in their PR. They need to promote a drama, not actors.
People mentioned QOT under previous post about LND and said that main actors saved the show, but no. There were hot discussions every week about DRAMA, not about actors. Main leads, second main leads, and third main leads were in the list of top10 of Gallup, because people discussed a drama and the plot. The same thing as some others dramas without hard actors promotion got decent ratings: Black out rised ratings because people who watched drama started to discuss it with others. The same for Crush, and, maybe, Good partner.
No matter if drama good or bad, it need to be discussed, so people who didn’t watch it find out about the drama and would decide to check it. As for actors, they already bring attention from people who were interested in THEM, already, this is why drama started with 6% ratings. So I don’t think they can do much by their personal promotion, it’s drama itself that need to be promoted.

  12. Honestly, good for their fans that they get an overseas couple pictorial. They already had one and the (lack of) success for the drama doesn’t warrant a photoshoot tbvh. But it may have been finalized long before the airing and tvN expected a LOT from this drama very clearly.

As for the dating rumours, I genuinely don’t know of any rom com that didn’t have delusional shippers. Even when one of the leads are married, they get shipped 🤣🤣

    • The drama is doing reasonably well given the cast and genre. The leads are not known for pulling in ratings. Jung Hae In has a drama with less than 1% ratings and as a result 4 episodes were cut mid airing. Snow Drop was in the 1-2% range was well.

      • Considering how much money tvN has poured into the drama promotions, I completely and wholeheartedly disagree. The ratings dropped to 3% for ep 7, and for a weekend drama marketed this heavily, in no world can it be considered a drama that is doing “reasonably well”.

Also, I’m not sure why you think JHI’s previous drama ratings is a determining factor. Actors don’t dictate ratings anymore like it used to – a dramas’ quality does. The first episode ratings of LND is very similar to QOT. One of the highest rated drama this year is MDAN – a rom com that did not have big names pulling in numbers. It’s just has quality. Also, JSM has several ratings success and this drama is from the HCCC writer-PD if we are talking about accolades pre airing. In fact, LND’s PD last drama was one of the highest rated rom coms in his history of cable tv with CCOR. So yes, the ratings of LND is extremely poor in all context.

    • To be quite honest, aren’t all shippers delusional? There’s never any concrete proof until the couple or in some cases dispatch comes out to verify. Shippers of son Ye Jin and Hyun bin could have rightly been called delusional in the beginning until the couple announced they were dating and got married. My point is you use the term delusional shippers as if it’s a bad thing, all shippers are delusional, and sometimes they get it right.

      • Aren’t all shippers delusion? Well, yes. I quite literally said so. And you’re using that argument to say… because BinJin shippers got it right, delusional shippers are… not a bad thing??!?!??? 🤣🤣🤣

Yea…. Ooookay Jan. You keep deluding yourself and believing delulu shippers like yourself are a good thing.

      • @Jennilee
Hyun Bin and Son Ye Jin’s relationship were pretty known a long before dispatch revealed them. Many people saw them together with photos included, so it’s a different case

      • I think shippers not so good thing, as I see many disrespectful things made by delusional shippers. And if one of the person they shipping revealing relationship with someone else, some shippers even starting hating them and their partner, or acting all offended. Or shippers of one actor with two different actresses doing lame fanwars with each other.
Despite this, there are normal rational shippers, who don’t act like that. But I don’t think people who NEED to know about personal life actors they watched drama with and to make speculations about this, are so good.

      • The concrete “proof” of HB and SYJ was them being spotted together in LA going grocery shopping. And it wasn’t just hearsay, there were actual pictures. Their agencies were forced to give that lame-a** story that they happened to just meet up there as friends. As if we are stupid enough to believe that, lol.

Sure, they had those weirdo, delusional shippers too, but in the end, there was proof of them being an item, even before CLOY.

  13. I truly HATE when losers blame actors/ agencies /networks for their own delusional brains. An actor is NOT to blame when they post an Instagram that is vaguely similar to their costar’s post. An agency is NOT to blame if they clarify or not clarify a speculation from thin air. And a network is NOT to blame for promoting their dramas and get their money’s worth. A fan is btw, also NOT to blame for liking 2 actors together. It’s when they overstep and don’t know when to stop is when they are to blame. And I have NEVER seen a single shipper fandom that didnt disgust me in the end.

  14. A gimmick to promote the drama and feed the shippers
Anyway this drama is already sinking and can’t be helped.
I never knew that Jung So Min is a bad actress until I watch this drama

    • You have no idea what the director was instructing her to do. It may be the actor, or the director may be doing multiple takes and choosing the mostloyd and bombastic.

She was very understated and magnetic in The Smile Has Left Your Eyes. I also really liked her in Father is Strange. This role is a bit screechy and grating— but I’m not sure it’s fair to entirely blame JSM.

    • Respectfully, could you explain to me what you mean by Jung so min is bad actress in this drama. I’d really like to hear what you believe her character is all about and how she isn’t portraying her character well.

    • @melon

I agree that JSM’s terrible in this drama, but she’s definitely not a bad actress. Sometimes the character has no chemistry with the actor. Or sometimes, the character is just so bad that it reflects on the actor.

I dropped the drama after ep 4 because I couldn’t deal with the FL and her aggressiveness. And I’d argue that’s a character flaw. JSM’s fault if you will, was never managing to inject warmth or a feeling of connection. Her character feels like a puppet on strings or an adult playing a teen. I just never saw a reason to cheer her on. So unless the PD intended Seok Ryu to be unrelatable and unlikable, this is a bad acting performance imo. But like others said here, it doesn’t make her a bad actress.

      • If character unlikable, it’s not bad acting. Bad acting is when acting, character or character’s lines isn’t convincing, or shown blatantly. If actress can’t say her lines properly or convincing, she can’t show suitable emotions, her acting is blant in some scenes, if she looks awkward.
I didn’t watch that drama, just judging by your comment about not likeable character.
What about blant acting from good actors. I noticed one thing with good actors of shows with multiple seasons. For example, in 1-2 season actor can be very good portraying their character. But in 3 season script changing, their character changing, becomes silly or something else, and when acting became not convincing. I made opinion by this that maybe some actors can’t act properly if they don’t like the script, find script stupid, or if they can’t understand their character.

      • @ butterfly
Someone here said they relate with so min struggles as a first child, I’d argue that’s connecting. Also a puppet is someone controlled by another, I don’t know who is pulling her character’s strings, cause she decided not to let anyone in on why she packed up and left, canceling her marriage. She came back home considering being kind of a disappointment to her parents, to face it head on. I really cannot think of any moment in time that she felt like a puppet. When did it ever feel like she was not in control of her life and decisions. She even started attending cooking classes, she decided and went for it, and the list is endless, but that’s my point though. For the life of me, I could never fathom the aggressiveness some folks were talking about, that’s just me personally, so I can’t counter that. Well I can relate to, (not because it has happened to me, but just because) wanting to pause and just take a second look at the direction of your life and making a necessary albeit difficult adjustment

  15. I don’t think what it will bring to the drama’s ratings to make a photoshoot one week before the end.

Some people like it, some people doesn’t.

The ratings are not bad. I don’t think this drama costed a lot (no chaebol family, no travelling) and it’s quite surprising they released it so soon when they didn’t even finish to film.

  16. the ratings are “low” not cos of people disliking the drama – the 3% rating is due to the fact it aired adjacent and overlapping with Good Partner which is huge and in SBS – ergo, people will watch that and stream Love Next Door later. some of these people would then go on to watch the Sunday episode on TVN (thus always the jump in ratings for Sunday)- but some would probably stream both sometime else

  17. @Olesya, thank you for explaining, I didn’t know so much about the timeline of SYJ and HB relationship, but I appreciate the info and your opinion.
@ Millie, the argument is quite simple, the mere fact that a person is a shipper is already a delusional thing. So I was saying delusional shippers is literally every shipper. Delusion is a mistaken belief, every shipper starts off with a belief or opinion or even wish that they hold never because of concrete or conclusive proof, sometimes it’s by seeing pics like @TGIF mentioned and choosing to draw a conclusion without truly knowing the whole story (the excuse she said the agency made could have easily been true, it’s not impossible for friends to go shopping however skeptical anyone wants to view it). To conclude, of course there are crazy shippers, but ALL shippers are delusional, and Millie if you ever were a shipper please know you are on the list, hence I cannot be offended by your pronunciation of myself as a delusional shipper.

    • Luckily for me, never in my life have I been so stupid enough to invest my time and thoughts (read: DELUSIONS) on people I don’t know jack shit about. They are celebrities – I enjoy (or don’t enjoy) their on screen performance. I couldn’t give a rats ass what they do, who they like, who they date, and who they sleep with. Because simply, why should I care? I’m not a teenager with an undeveloped brain trying to project my romantic dreams on other people lmao. Even Bin Jin – never cared that they dated, didn’t care when they denied it, and was happy when they got married.

So yea, I’m happy to say I’m not on the list. And also, I know you’re not offended. It’s laughable to even think you’d be offended, seeing as to how you are openly claiming you’d be happier than the celebrities in question if they announce they’re dating. That level of obsession over someone else’s life is highly disturbing and sad. Then again, most shippers don’t know when to draw the line. That’s why they’re delusional.

  18. TVN have pulled out all the stops for the promotion of this drama. It’s received so much promo. Lucky fans!

I’m looking forward to the photoshoot. They make such a pretty couple.
