First Official Poster and Preview for Netflix 1950’s Era K-drama When Life Gives You Tangerines with IU and Park Bo Gum — 31 Comments

  1. It looks really good! PBG going back to his Choi Taek roots is pretty exciting to see. It’s going to be a potentially big year for him with Good Boy also releasing soon. He has been away for dramas for 5 years so all eyes on him.

  2. They give sibling vibes, also bogum as usual playing the boring lover boy atleast his other project looks different. Tired of the same type of male leads.

    • Actually, they do look alike!

I find it funny that while South Korea is now drowning in procedural or thriller dramas, Park Bo-gum has not done any truly challenging role akin to his breakout role in I Remember You for the past 10 years. Maybe Good Boy would interesting.

      • @Alexa, late LSK had chemistry with all of his costars. And not only chemistry he was somehow able to bring out the best performance out of his costars. I really don’t know how he did that but any actor who hasn’t acted well otherwise has acted great beside him. The good part is that the director is the same as My Ajusshi so I’m hoping he’ll bring the same rawness and acting IU showed there, here too.

      • The show as a whole was ehhh but IU had INSANE chemistry with Lee Joon Gi in Moon Lovers and I will die on this hill. Would do literal human sacrifice for a reunion of those two in another romantic drama.

      • “didn’t have chemistry with KSH”

….are you seriously saying IU didn’t have chemistry with Kim Soo Hyun in Producers?!! clear sign of someone who’s never watched that drama or only seen voiceover tiktok clips.

      • @Royal We

LOL seriously. KSH-IU not having chemistry is such a bananas claim, I scoffed and scrolled. Totally get that ppl see chemistry differently but some are just unanimously accepted and KSH-IU is part of that list. Producers aside, even their 5 min MV had boatloads of chemistry.

      • Chemistry is subjective why yall getting defensive, is it cause you’re iu/ksh fan girls. Iu is not known for romance, she’s mostly popular for my mister and hotel deluna (as savage fashion queen)

    • Yeah, they do. Also, are they playing teenage role? I feel ick whenever I see 30yrs old playing teenage role. It doesn’t feel natural

  3. Knowing the writer, it will probably try to mix comedy with mystery or some crime back drop. Not downing on it though. When the Camelia Blooms was a good drama mixed with a variety of genres and tropes that melded well.

    • I don’t remember there being a mystery or crime aspect to Fight For My Way though.

I actually suspect this series might be a melodrama comparable to Love Rain if there were no kids involved, considering the casting of Moon So-ri and Park Hae-joon as the middle-aged versions of the leads. But, I trust that Im Sang-choon could write this kind of story better.

  4. Is IU’s character mentally unstable in the drama? Her expression at 0:39 gives me such vibe and also her overall mannerism in th trailer seems off. Is it just me? Otherwise trailer seems nice but I have a feeling that it will have a sad ending.

  5. I like both of them but when they pair up together with this screen writer for this kinda romantic drama I dont feel any CP feelings from them at all :’) what a shame…

  6. For a drama written by the same writer of When the Camellia Blooms, I will hold my expectation low. WtCB is one of the lamest thrillers (if there’s any thriller element at all) and romance I’ve ever watched as a fan of this particular genre. I watched it for GHJ and she was still impressive there. However, the ML’s persona in WtCB was too much a bumpkin to root for his romance with the heroine. I laughed out loud later on when knowing theatrically overacting Kang Ha-neul grabbed Baeksang best actor for this role, beating other better actors.

As much as I like PBG, I hope his character in this new retro(?) drama won’t be over the top. LOL

  7. I love that they parodied the American Gothic in their poster! 😂 I really like this pairing, am so looking forward to the premiere.

  8. I’m not a fan of this writer at all but the PD did a fantastic job. The cinematography in the trailer is gorgeous. It looks like it’ll be a beautiful drama to watch aesthetically. But if recent shows are any indication, the writing is probably the most important aspect of any drama.

I’m a big IU fan and she always picks interesting scripts so I’m holding her to that record lol. I hope they have chemistry tho. PBG’s last 2 drama leading ladies had *zero* chemistry with him.

    • 2025 and people still say Bogum and SHK don’t have chemistry, when in reality it’s one of their best chemistry with their costars.

      • It’ll be 2050 and people will still say PBG and SHK have *zero* chemistry, because in reality, it’s their worse chemistry they’ve both had with a costar. Or second worse for PBG.

      • saying that PBG and SHK don’t have chemistry is such a bananas claim, I scoffed and scrolled. Everybody sees chemistry differently I guess.

      • Don’t waste your time guessing. Everyone seeing chemistry differently is a fact, actually… just like I said. There is no “reality” – just perception.

Difference is, some pairings are unanimously accepted as having tons of chemistry. Then on the opposite ends are PBG and SHK, SHK and LDH, KSH and HGI, IU and YJG – most recently JHI and JSM 🤷🏼‍♀️

      • @no one in particular

Encounter is my second kdrama after moonlight and personally I saw Song Hye-kyo and Park Bo-gum as noona dongsaeng and it never progressed throughout the drama. There was nothing romantic even if the scenes were beautiful. It’s not an age thing either because Park So-dam is close to PBG’s age and they had even worse chemistry. Just my opinion.

    • A -Shk had no chemistry with Pbg but I can’t agree it’s on him. Never she had chemistry with someone younger aside from Sjk. She looked like Ldh aunt in TG and Jky is bad like Pbg. She is only good with old actors than her

  9. I’m excited that this drama finally has fixed airing date with teaser and poster. Everyone involved just need to do what they usually do and we will get a hit
