Youku Confirms March 11th Premiere for Modern Romance C-drama Ski Into Love with Yu Shu Xin and Lin Yi
The next drama on Youku following the hit modern romance The First Frost will hopefully enjoy some residual boost, and that drama continues the winter theme as well. Ski Into Love (Chinese title Shhhhh, the King is Hibernating) with Yu Shu Xin and Lin Yi will premiere on March 11th, and we’ll see if Yu Shi Xin can continue her solid streak of being called an industry drama male lead maker, i.e. she makes her male leads level up. To her credit, she has done so albeit not every single drama, but in those instances those male leads were already big enough names but here Lin Yi is still pretty green but definitely one of those on the up and up. This drama from the previews and stills just comes across as very slight in terms of drama, the two leads meet at a ski resort and fall in love cutely with the backdrop of amazing snow vistas.

I finally got some free time, now catching up on dramas and Undercover High School got my heart so far. As for Ski Into love, I kind of like the artistic visuals shown in the trailer, will give it a try when it’s out.
It’s kinda royal ball vibe from the poster they shared and I’m being conflicted.

While I really wanted this to be released a couple months ago for the winter feels, I’m not quite feeling it by now.
Still, I’m sure these two will deliver, both are solid rom-comers.
I checked it out sporadically and dropped it. Could not stand the childish acting from Eshther Yu Shu Xin (she reminded me of a 12-year-old, with current controversies surrounding Kim Soo Hyun’s dating life, I did not find it appealing). Also, her makeup reminded me of the kawaii teen chicks from the early ’00 in Harajuku. Hard to take her character seriously. This drama should have been like those silly, over-the-top manga based j-doramas where eccentric plot and whimsical characters are the norm.
