Spring is here and there is a new spring arrival baby in K-ent. Movie actress Kim Min Hee welcomed a healthy baby boy this week, the father being her director partner Hong Sang Soo. She’s 43 years old and he’s 65 years old but they have been together close to a decade, though he remains legally married to his wife after she refused to grant his divorce filing. Initially K-netizens were firmly on the side of the wife chastising Hong Sang Soo for leaving her for a much younger woman and castigating Kim Min Hee for being a homewrecker. But in the intervening years the couple has laid low, he has continued to direct indie movies with her as his muse lead actress and in time the public furor has died down and public commentary has turned to the wife should just agree to the divorce, get what she is owed and then some, and move on. Kim Min Hee always had a non-traditional streak to her from her drama and movie choices to her past relationships and if this couple is living their own life including having a child together it confirms the old adage that even scandals become accepted reality in due time.
