Cheng Yi Goes Dark and Devious in Posters and Preview for Period C-drama The Vendetta of An
Timing being thrown off when it comes to drama releases starring the same leads gives me a sense of been there done that. C-actor Cheng Yi was primed for his iQiyi wuxia C-drama The Journey of Legend to be released last month but due to a potential scandal with a female lead it was paused. So seeing the preview for his subsequent Youku drama The Vendetta of An just feels like crossed streams. He’s definitely doing well with two top billed male lead centric dramas and I need to watch both to decide if either or both work for me. I don’t particularly like Cheng Yi but would be happy to watch any drama of his if I liked the story and execution. Watching the trailer for The Vendetta of An strikes me as vaguely Legend of Zang Hai in that there is a huge cast, lots of plotting and more plotting, and deviousness around every corner.

I am seriously looking forward to this…storyline looks interesting. Liu Yi Jun’s son got a very good supporting role. I hope his son will do well…
As Hero Legend looks like it will never be released, having not secured copyrights for its story, was really looking forward to The Journey of Legend (aka Go to the mountains and the sea, or Legend of Zang Hai). This is the drama that looks to have the mixture of comedy and drama in the same vein as Mysterious Lotus Casebook. So gutted to hear that there are potential issues with a female cast member that is putting its release into doubt!
Vendetta of An, no doubt it will be worth to watch, but this looks much more of a drama only and has a lot of H&R faces in the trailer, so a bit more of the usual stuff which tends to not quite hit the highs that MLC did and which I was hoping The Journey of Legend might also hit.

It does seem pretty dark with the lighting though. The theme does carry a dark tone too. Hope it is good.
