Tencent Confirms Leads Song Zu Er and Chen Xin Hai for Period Romance C-drama Biao Mei Wan Fu
Production has officially started on Tencent produced romance C-drama Biao Mei Wan Fu (表妹万福) adapted from the same name novel with the translated English title of Wishing You Eternal Happiness by writer Peng Lai Ke. The leads are Song Zu Er and Chen Xin Hai, as rumored from the last few weeks. And the vibe is very demure and sweet gives off The Sword and the Brocade visuals. Song Zu Er’s successful return after a year and a half of hiatus during a tax evasion investigation has got to be the most successful rapid success three-parter with three dramas released back-to-back-to-back followed by the casting and filming as the female lead of a new high profile drama. Chen Xin Hai is following in the solid and manly supporting male lead to male lead path as charted recently by He Yu and Xin Yun Lai and his most recent second male lead role in Feud was one of the least annoying characters in the drama so lucky him. I’m super game for this pairing and drama so yay!
I only watched him in Falling Before Fireworks and a few videos from Feud. He’s not exactly a bad actor. But he isn’t so expressive. Probably because of his characters tho
In The Double and Feud, his acting was similar… He lack spirit/spark in his acting. But Song Zu’er is great at making her co-star comfortable with her. Maybe, we will see a different side to Chen Xin Hai.
The chemistry between leads save Falling Before Fireworks even with his limited acting. So I hope he will at least have chemistry with SZE
@Lev, I have to agree…even with limited acting skills. Good chemistry can make a drama enjoyable too.
It is also from the author of Prisoner of beauty so I am looking forward to it. I love Song Zu Er and I am ok with the male lead. I am relieved they didn’t pick the actor who looka like the perpetual teenaged younger brother. I read the novel and this ML is better in my opinion. He suits the strong silent patriotic type with a soft heart who reluctantly protects our female lead from an obsessed royal. Excited to see Song Zu Er portray the FL who sticks to our male lead shamelessly for protection and eventually melt his cold cold heart.
They seem evenly matched to me. Hopefully the story is evenly matched with them also.
