Zhang Ling He and Wang Chu Ran Bring the Opulent Republic Era Visuals in First Character Posters for Romance C-drama Overdo
A new big budget high profile C-drama has kicked off filming and it’s the Tencent and iQiyi joint production of Overdo (Chinese title 这一秒过火 Zhe Yi Miao Guo Huo or This Second Overheat). It’s a Republic era period drama adapted from a popular romance novel by writer Fei Wo Si Cun and will star Zhang Ling He and Wang Chu Ran, in that billing order. From the synopsis there is kidnapping, first love, supposed betrayal, reunion, angst, and of course warlords haha of course there are Chinese warlords how can there be a Republic era C-drama without the male lead being a warlord or the son of one. The first concept posters of the leads are out and I’ve never seen such perfect male lead cosplay of a dashing arrogant warlord as Zhang Ling He here. The too large shoulder tassels, the pout, and the on fleek skin tight knee high boots are killing me. Wang Chu Ran is also so gorgeous in her costume, these two can potentially light the small screen on fire.
ZLH is slaying this look as is WCR! Hopefully the budget for this drama is good because Republican era dramas can end up looking tacky if not done well.

I’m sorry but if I cover the head, I’d think it’s a woman in that warlord suit. WCR is really beautiful with that styling. They’re two gorgeous leads indeed.
I hardly ever able to complete republic dramas but they are both my faves so Ive to check this one out for sure. They look like literally characters from some manhwa with costumes.
Im not used to watch ZLH looking extra thin in modern dramas though…with layered costumes its not this obvious…

Honestly, even if a C-drama let down the basics of human intelligence, there will be people who will watch it if there is chemistry between the attractive leads, and good cinematography. I am the people. LOL, it is a guilty pleasure.
Does ZLH ever rest or does he just have a line up of dramas to do, immediately going to the next one as one finishes? Nevertheless, always looking forward to his new releases.

When Chinese actors wear hanfu, their bodies have a good balance with their heads thanks to the layers of clothing. That’s why in modern dramas their thinness is notorious. Apart from Dou Xiao being bulky, no other name comes to mind. In terms of facial features I prefer Chinese stars, but in terms of bodies, definitely South Korean ones.
