First Look a Sageuk K-drama My Beloved Thief with Nam Ji Hyun and Moon Sang Min in Another Soul Swapping Romance — 11 Comments

  1. K-dramas are in the same peril as the rest of entertainment. Society is so soul crushing, it’s either address the issues at hand through fiction or help people escape them through fiction, and either way, creativity has run dry because life is too grim. Great. Lol. Also, talent is just down. I’m looking for a breakout from any country! I’ve already rewatched every good story in my arsenal twice this year 😅🙏

  2. Kdrama isn’t in the peril as some fans speculate in their fantasy. LOL. Hard numbers in finance spreadsheets and accounting reports just show the opposite. Kdrama is thriving on a global scale, exposed to more international fans partially thanks to the gradual dominance of kpop in Western music industry.

Soul swap isn’t my cup of tea. As much as I enjoyed Secret Garden, I skipped all the scenes of soul swap between the beloved OTP. I’m not excited about this drama as usual. Although most of the buzzed Kdramas this year failed to satisfy me, I still found some works interesting. I just finished two eps of Typhoon Family. The theme of TF may be not appealing to old-school romance craving Kdrama fans, but I found the setting in 1997 during the SK financial bankruptcy and societal depression was well depicted. The story looks like on the way to have an underdog saving a sinking business. If this Netflix series is well executed, the story can be as interesting and deep as Hot Stove League, which is an underdog story I love too. So far, the first 2 eps of TF were going along with realistic backdrops back in 1997, depressing but still colorful and intriguing. I love the two leads’ acting so far. I knew nothing about the FL. But Lee Junho’s suave appearance at the get-go brought me back to his idol days being a 2PM darling. LOL. Junho has got the hang of acting now. He looked so relaxed in handling this role.

I’m surprised Typhoon Family did not get much attention though.

    • Typhoon family looks promising. I watched Junho in Red Sleeves and he was very good there. He and Kim Min Ha seem to have chemistry. I will give it a watch after a couple more episodes are out.

    • Maybe because the promo made it feel like comedy. And because I like serious type of story when it comes to financial crisis, I wasn’t interested in checking it out. How was it? Was it more serious that comedic?

  3. I have to check since Ive been missing Nam JiHyun in a romance for a long time… I dont have much expectations of couple chemistry or writing though I dont even know the lead guy..
