Zhao Li Ying Steals the Premiere Buzz with Guest Starring Role in Xianxia C-drama The Unclouded Soul with Tan Song Yun and Hou Ming Hao
This is totally a win-win for all involved but does take away a bit from the drama leads on premiere day. Top drama C-actress Zhao Li Ying has a guest starring role in the just premiered iQiyi xianxia C-drama The Unclouded Soul and immediately she’s rocketed up the search and buzz charts above leads Tan Song Yun and Hou Ming Hao. Her guest starring role came about due to a promise she made ten years ago to the director of The Unclouded Soul when they worked together on her drama Rookie Agent Rouge. The Unclouded Soul is the director’s first period drama so Zhao Li Ying made good on her promise to do a meaningful guest starring role for him. She was rumored to be guest starring when the drama was filming but the production never confirmed anything until the drama release when character posters were released of the main cast including ones of her Goddess character. Hopefully the drama is good and can capitalize on the additional buzz she brings in.

I personally love it when an actor that has gone on to be popular and are leads in their own dramas do a guest spot or a cameo, especially in a drama that you wouldn’t expect to see them in. Makes me wonder what fun connection they have with the project. Also, the buzz around ZLY was because people were surprised.
Congrats and good luck to the director on directing his first period drama. Must be exciting and a bit nerve-wrecking to try something new.

It does help bring the attention to the drama. But poor the main leads.
The premise of this story is completely false.. The leads of this drama are prominently featured in almost all the You Tube videos and streaming services promos. Check out the Leaderboard of the MyDramaList app (An Asian entertainment database like IMDb) that tracks the worldwide popularity of thousands of Asian performers and guess who are #2 and #3 ALL-Time. Yes, Hou Ming Hao and Tan Song Yun, the male lead and female lead of this fantasy drama, The Unclouded Soul. Zhao Li Ying is a wonderful actress but she’s not even in the top 100 on this Asian international popularity list. What’s fair is that the entire cast and crew put in months of very hard work, none more than these two lead actors who have given so much effort and promotion for this awesome series.
