Romance C-drama Shine on Me with Song Wei Long and Zhao Jin Mai Breaks 28000 on Tencent as an Addicting Fluffy Watch
So my belated Christmas present in drama land turned out to be modern C-drama Shine on Me, adapted from the Gu Man novel Blazing Sunlight. Starring Song Wei Long and Zhao Jin Mai, the drama premiered a week ago and to date has broke 28000 heat index on Tencent and appears to be doing solid in viewers and buzz. It’s not a rocket science type of drama and the acting is average at best from everyone but goodness is it addicting for me and likely other viewers as well. Song Wei Long might’ve found his best role to date from visuals to vibe, he’s doing the perfect chaebol heir role without any greasiness and his himbo aura is dialed down so he gives off just perfect prince charming. Zhao Jin Mai does well as the rich girl with grit and gumption and her character is easy to root for without being too ideally framed. Another reason for the addictiveness is watching the second male lead suffer and keep suffering OF HIS OWN DOING, omg I’ve rarely seen a dude actually dig his own grave and then sit it in during a thunderstorm but then get pissed off at the world for his being drenched in mud. The female lead likes him first then he turns her down and thereafter spends the entire drama (so far) being frustrated she’s not continuing to pine or chase after him. Like, da fuq crack you on boy? I want to see him keep getting thwarted as much as I want to see the cute leads get together and make out a lot. The filler in between story elements are just there to add misunderstanding, conflict, and thread the scenes so feel free to FF but the leads are super adorable together once they start vibing.

This is a 100% idol drama, no doubt. I’m following it while multitasking such as working out at the same time cuz it’s an easy story to digest that doesn’t need many brain cells to focus on anything. LOL.
I also read quite a few online discussions comparing SoM with Speed and Love. Fans of these two dramas dissed each other LOL cuz the dramas were premiered around the same time? Out of curiosity, I checked Speed and Love and surprisingly found the ML very attractive in his bad boy vibes. ZJM is a way more decent actress compared with Esther Yu who appeared charlatan with awkward acting and voice as usual in SAL. The unknown ML basically ran circles around Esther. SAL could have been a drama that I might be interested in. But Esther Yu once again turned me off. She has no remedy LOL.
Not a fan of either actress. I actually haven’t been able to finish any dramas of these two actresses. Just my personal opinion about the two dramas in competition at the same time.
