iQiyi Confirms Premiere of Period Romance Chasing Jade with Zhang Ling He and Tian Xi Wei for March 6th — 13 Comments

  1. I read that both actors do not see eye to eye. Is it true or just speculations from their fans? If true, any reason why they would be avoiding each other on purpose?

  2. I haven’t seen Tian Xiwei in any drama yet (she looks pretty in the trailer though). Zhang Linghe is an actor I appreciated in Maiden Holmes, but since then, I haven’t seen the growth in his skills that I expected. Lol! Come to think of it, most of the actors I liked in their debut, are now comfortable playing different roles with repetitive mannerisms, without any intention in their acting. Just reciting lines.😂

I’ll have Chasing Jade on my radar anyway, if the plot manages to catch me, the performances take a back seat. In the end, I’ve never managed to finish a drama with good acting if I wasn’t entertained. Some were acclaimed titles and probably had a lot of artistic values, but that can’t change my personal consideration.

  3. I’ve noticed that a high percentage of users on this site need to connect with the actors (either through acting or because the characters appealed to them) in order to consider them good-looking, attractive. Especially in C-dramas. I stopped visiting this site since last year and now that I’m back, I see that those who didn’t understand the “hype” for certain faces, now appreciate them citing their work in a (recent) drama as a reference. It’s interesting.

    • I find it funny too because when I look back on the filmography of some of the hottest actors, I would find that I’ve seen them as a lead or second lead before but they didn’t make an impression until they play a specific character. It reminds me that acting and charisma is so dependent on a role combined with directing. And to land a role in a drama that lets you shine – that is dependent on luck too.

Anyways, I’m excited to see Tian Xi-wei.

      • I like classic beauties, yes, the ones who can be boring/generic to those looking for ‘uniqueness’. LOL. But what you mentioned is an new perspective for me, because even when actors are skilled (Tan Songyun, for example) and ordinary-looking, I don’t usually emphasise that. Perhaps it’s because their talent means that attention isn’t focused on their appearance as a resource.

I haven’t seen Tian Xiwei in anything yet, but I’ve been reading generally favourable comments about her for years. Any particular drama of hers that you can recommend?

  4. Not true. Most suck at acting or are mid and we still acknowledge they are good looking lol. Then there are those who are great actors/actresses but get saddled with bad or mid acting but still fairly good looking. When has cdramas not have good looking leads? But there do tend to be some strong fan base on here that hate it when their favorites get dragged through the mud or critiqued. I simply go for dramas with actors whom I like and stay with genres I prefer. There is nothing wrong on whether you like or dislike actors, writing, and directing and simply state your opinion. Everyone deserves to express themselves. Some are just a tad bit more passionate than most. But that’s just me. I don’t speak for this blog alone.

    • I wasn’t referring to you or whoever you think “we” is. LOL. There is a group of several users in particular who caught my attention with their renewed consideration. There’s one user who wrote before that she didn’t find He Yu good-looking before, but now she does because she liked his role in Speed & Love, which proves that there are folks who perceive attractiveness through charisma, strong screen presence or well-induced mannerisms.
