First Preview for MBC Big Budget Romance K-drama Perfect Crown with IU and Byun Woo Seok
K-star IU has proven her chops from idol singer to award winning actress over her fifteen years in the industry so she’s fine to take on fluffier dramas to change up her works. But her male lead in upcoming MBC tentpole 2026 K-drama Perfect Crown (21st Century Prince’s Wife) is Byun Woo Seok who had one of the biggest breakouts of any K-drama young actor I’ve ever seen thanks to Lovely Runner and this is his follow up project that is getting as much attention for him as for her. So the stakes are high for him and in this first preview IU is channeling her Hotel Del Luna rich bitch (with a secret soft inside) type character while Byun Woo Seok is getting K-netizen criticism for being all looks and not giving off any charisma and acting from the brief snippets. I think its too early to tell if this will be a flop in terms of high profile rich people in love type dramas like The King: Eternal Monarch or a hit like Crash Landing on You.

I don’t think this drama will be a flop. Award-winning script, a director with popular rom-com projects, and both main casts have very big fandoms that could support this drama. It’s just that yesterday, BWS got a lot of criticism from K-netizens for his bad diction. Even if his acting is lacking, this is a rom-com. There are so many Kdramas that still get high ratings or get very popular even with bad acting.
Ah I’m so excited for this! This kind of fairytale dramas are the reason I love kdramas!
Looking forward to the drama, but not feeling the preview, which almost feels like we’re watching a show that has an in-show fake trailer that characters are watching.
Oh is The King:Eternal Monarch a flop? I enjoyed that drama a lot. lol. Eternal Monarch also changed my perception about Kim Go Eum. I didn’t like her before then.
I recognize how popular BWS got after LR. But I still don’t get his charm. He has yet to persuade me with an incredible story to tell. Perhaps this drama will be the one? lol.

Its just ridiculous, byeon wook seok is literal charisma, he was oozing charisma from just walking down at the first scene he was shown. And don’t get me started on the already palpable chemistry with IU. Did y’all catch the way he was looking at her??!! Ottoke. They’re going to hate cause that’s what they do, wouldn’t know what to do with themselves otherwise, but the drama won’t flop. BYS and IU fighting!!!
IU chooses good scripts so I will check this out, but I have a feeling this will flop.
