Yu Shu Xin and He Yu Basically Confirmed for Reunion in Xianxia C-drama Fairy Meat Adapted From Novel
So the two downsides to this project as far as I’m concerned is the terrible title and the choice for the female lead. Xianxia C-drama Fairy Meat adapted from the novel One Persistent Thought is reportedly confirmed for leads Yu Shu Xin and He Yu. This will mark a reunion after last year’s Speed and Love which was bipolar for me to watch, enjoying all the male lead scenes and cringing through all the female lead ones. I wasn’t on the bandwagon of calling for these two to reunite as I think He Yu has way more upside and plenty of female actresses to pair up with but alas it appears a safe bet is the choice for the production team. Filming is slated to begin next month April 2026 as He Yu rolls off the set of Reborn of the Rightful into this one.
So long as she doesn’t play another cringey overly cute character, then it’s good

Esther Yu was a big turn-off for me in most of her dramas, both visually and acting-wise. She was bearable only in My Journey to You. I felt the 2nd hand embarrassment watching her playing it up in other dramas. She’d better stop acting cutesy. Darker roles may suit her better IMO.
Let’s be honest… the show was very “cringy nostalgic 00’s forbidden romance”.
And I kinda feel like you can’t shit on one lead and not the other. It just kinda feels like @okoala is a Yu Shu Xin anti fan.
Like yes her character was naive and gullible but she’s a 30 year old woman playing a 19 year old for almost 90% of the drama. So that takes talent in being able to act like a stupid teenager and then a full fledge adult.
Don’t even get me started with the He Yu character he’s legit a massive red flag emotionally manipulating the female lead with little facial expression. The only reason why he isn’t being crucified for his acting is his ability to appear “hot and smouldering”for a predominantly female audience.
Despite unpopular casting…if true I feel like Yu Shu Xin would do well in the female lead role having done similar xianxia characters in love game in eastern fantasy and love between fairy and devil
Yup exactly my opinion as well. That said, not every YSX’s project is watchable, and that’s less to do with how she acts, and more to do with how she’s characterized.
Some ppl hated ZLS for her “babytalk” in one of her dramas, but it doesn’t mean ZLS is a bad actress. It’s just characterization and choices.
In any case, looking forward to more of her projects. That whole corruption thing made her a target along with that ridiculous bullying talk, all of it to bring her down.

Wow filming is already happening so soon and yes the title is strange considering it does not align at all with novels title lol. I’m guessing a fairy is at risk of being eaten in the story? Lol Regardless of how rediculous her character was written and portrayed at times in their last drama; they did have pretty good chemistry in the drama. I don’t blame them for pairing them together again.
Yes, I like Yu shuxin… She’s funny and effortlessly fashionable.
Fairy Meat? Sweet Lord!
Did not like her at all in Speed and Love, thought he was fine but didn’t finish it the series, never a fan of the faux incest and found it icky, here too. Have enjoyed some of her other dramas, loved him in My Fated Boy, such a different character. The little boy/young version of him in that was adorable and He Yu carried it through.
So, I guess, it could be ok, or not, depending.
Not a fan of the title lol. I thought they had great chemistry in Speed & Love, so hopefully this will work out for them too.
I’m on the other half that adores Esther on the love her or hate her question so I wish her all the best. I am kinda surprised that HeYu reunion is gonna happen before DingYuxi reunion because I love their chemistry on LGEF more cos eventhough I love Esther I don’t like Speed and Love’s plot.

Got that right about clingy Esther. Her mannerisms and voice is pretty annoying. Shes better in her older films, now it seems like an older lady trying to be young! He looks hot physically in Speed and Love. Maybe no other actors worth their salt wanted to be paired with her.
I’m excited to watch Esther Yu Shuxin and He Yu in Fairy Meat . Their onscreen chemistry was amazing in Speed And Love.
