Xianxia C-drama Love Beyond the Grave with Dilraba Dilmurat and Chen Fei Yu Trends Downward Heading to Finale After Criticism of the CP Chemistry and Pairing — 9 Comments

  1. It’s the wig lol just kidding. I haven’t watched yet but as far as I have seen many seem to enjoy it thus far and I heard some found the story confusing at first? So half good and some who gave up which happens always with Chinese dramas from what I have seen. I will watch if the ending is Happy so I’m waiting for reviews cause I’m weak and can’t deal with tragic or sad endings. There are quite a few dramas I still have yet to see because of this 😆But really his wig is not flattering on him.

  2. Her fans were squealing on SNS about how much chemistry these two had on variety shows doing promos for their CP so I got curious and took a look and it turned me off from watching the drama completely. I think you have to really like one of the actors and have blinders on to buy their chemistry.

  3. I really sometimes wonder how these casting directors are not able to tell just by looking at these two actors whether they will match or not. I mean, just because two people are good looking and Famous doesn’t mean that they will have good chemistry. I could even tell from the pictures of these who don’t have chemistry.

It’s actually ridiculous that people just cast two good-looking people will give us a hit drama Without having much regard to the acting skills or the right fit for the character.

  4. I haven’t seen this yet but visually Dilraba looks better with Miles Wei. I like Chen Fei Yu in Love Story In The 1970’s but yeah he doesn’t look good with Dilraba.

  5. They say the genre is xuanhuan (simpler dichotomy of worlds between spirits and humans), not xianxia (more complicated world of immortal “gods” of this and that).

It was okay initially. The two of them were fine, the story had potential, I was even binge-watching at one point. It even gave me insights on how “losing/gaining one’s senses” really mean for the everyday life.

The issues I see that prevent the series from being a hit are: the director and the dip in audience interest when they SEMI-SPOILER ALERT went into the spirit world during the teen episodes END OF SPOILER. I felt my interest wane thereabouts and paused by episode 21. I might pick it back up again but I’m not rushing.

I’m being reminded again how important the director really is into elevating a drama. The base premise was good, both actors had a sizeable fanbase, but the execution is too plain and straightforward.

  6. After CFY scandle i just think his charisma just died; this kind of role suits Dilabra so well but the story was boring, even the music is boring; look at the new Veil of Shadows for example, they were able to capture the viewers with a dramatic backstory and character first appearance, but in this drama, the first episode sounded like the 10 episode

  7. It was clear it was a flop days ago.

It wouldn’t be much of a problem but she is in a bad position already so one more flop is going to further remove her from anything of good quality. With her age (not my idea, I hate it but that’s cent) she has the clock ticking big time.

If she were a much better actress, maybe. But with this cold period in cdrama I fear she is in deep trouble.
