Xianxia C-drama Fate Chooses You with Allen Ren and Wang He Run Air Drops on iQiyi
So this may be the last C-drama to drop before April 2026 ends and it arrive in that air drop stealth mode when you know the platform is just wanting to recoup costs and not drop more on promos lol. Fate Chooses You (佳偶天成 Jia Ou Tian Cheng) with Allen Ren and Wang He Run has arrived in what could be better than his last absolutely horrific outing with Love and Crown but based on the trailer I’m not that optimistic. It’s a big male lead xianxia drama where the entire story appears to be about him being half battle demon/half human and wanting to become fully human so he goes through three trials where he has to exchange his flesh, exchange his bones, and finally his blood. But when he finally gets close he has a change of mind and wants to stay half immortal to use his xianxia powers to protect human kind, but of course haha. Anyways, Allen looks insanely photoshopped in all the posters and the preview is like a series of xianxia tropes one on top of the other so check it out for either lol potential or because you’re an Allen completist of his oeuvre.
Trailer for Fate Chooses You:

I’m so amazed AR is still doing so many idol dramas at his age. 😑😬
He was actually forced to do this (and Love and Crown) in order to leave his agency lol. Just like how Yang Zi had to star in Immortal Samsara back then.
I wonder how long he is going to stick around. He can’t move away from idol roles with his bad acting but he can’t stay a ml in idol for much longer either.
Totally agree with your comment on his acting. His eyes especially looked so emotionless in his modern drama with Bailu that I thought his character was blind.
I’m actually kind of liking this one. It’s not amazing or ground breaking but mildly entertaining. I think the supporting cast is doing all the heavy lifting.
he is old and looks a lot older, some actors old but look a lot younger– he is vice versa and should stop playing idol dramas and his kisses looks fake. lmao. I don’t know why he keep getting roles despite most of his dramas tanked.
Xianxia isnt really my cup of tea but this one is pretty good. Hopefully they wont drag yhe plot like other Xianxia.
It’s a surprisingly good drama. This is my second time watching RJL drama (the first being Love and Crown which I immediately dropped).
Granted I don’t watch a lot of xianxia, to me, having a majority (up til ep14) of the backdrop to be in the mortal realm feels very fresh. So i like it very much.
Cnets in xhs are saying that this drama feels more like wuxia.
