Wang Xing Yue and Deng En Xi Embark on College to Adulthood Romance in Hunan TV Modern Drama A Love Confession — 36 Comments

    • Long drama market is in frozen land now so yeah there is a huge chance for it not to generate huge numbers. But if they keep on giving roles to a non actor like Ju JingYi or if the industry keeps on pushing a mediocre one like Zhang LingHe to make him the top star of his generation what makes you think they will drop WXY ?

      • They should drop all of them. What makes you think I don’t think so? The market is frozen precisely because they have been pushing artificial popularity with all of them and the people are just done.

Once they allow for organic development, in all areas, it will warm up. You can tell by the very, very few actors who have achieved their fame for real. Their dramas aren’t flopping.

  1. So far, the Double is the only drama where I find WXY appealing. I did check a lot of his dramas after watching the double. But none of them impressed me. Even his much-praised supporting role in Story of Kunning Palace felt pedestrian. His acting is solid but doesn’t have that X factor. I agree. Unlike K actors, most Cdrama actors rely on plot and direction to bring their characters to life with charisma. WXY and Li Yunrui might fall into this category. They have yet to demonstrate the kind of magnetism K actor Lee Jae Wook uses to hold attention during a lull.

    • Bwahahaha 😂 Just as I’ve correctly said, you have started to backtrack on your praises for these guys. Soon, you will backtrack on your praises for ZLH too.

      • But for me most of these Chinese actors to me are just that mixed reviews. I’m not even certain I have a favorite Chinese actor. Most are easy on the eyes but acting wise pretty much like Russian roulette. Especially Chinese dramas in general. I prefer the actresses and at times that also becomes mixed reviewed depending on whether the drama is done well or not. if you are expecting me to be a simp for actors and actresses in general that is simply not me. You are lashing out at the wrong person. But we have free will to like or dislike someone as we wish. I get it sucks to see your favorites criticized though. No one is perfect. That is why my comment above may have sounded wishy washy earlier I am in no way a fanatical fan for anyone in general whether Korean, Chinese, or whatever countries drama I watch.

      • My bad Lillith it seems my comment was unnecessary I thought this comment was on my comment. This website and replies and my cross eyed eyes screwed up. 🙏🏻🤦🏻‍♀️

      • Lilith the grammar czar is obsessed. Honestly, a 24/7 unhinged stalker? Clown behavior. lol.
Nice to get some comic relief before diving into the serious drama of Game of Thrones! lol

      • @Rero It’s okay. I totally agree with you that simping for actors and actresses and having a favourite is simply not us, but there will be people like @Somebody who do so while turning around and accusing us of doing it instead.

@Somebody Just admit you have a bad eye for critiquing actors. This is what happens when you take the opposite of my stand simply for the sake of rebutting me 😂

      • Nah @Lilith. Are you implying Xiao Zhan is bad cuz I always praise him and I’m bad at critiquing LOL? You still have trouble getting to the bottom line and make your case! You have such unearned confidence of a self-appointed gatekeeper for drama review, a legendary critic in your own mind!!!! lmao. Such a clown! Humility is not a word in your dictionary!

Also, don’t put your own words in my mouth!

I gather that you have been stalking and bullying me constantly since I rejected ALL your long ass list of “serious” Cdrama recommendations long ago. You have a pure CCP persona that shares the same ideology and mentality as that egregious authority. Any perspective but your own seems to bruise your fragile ego. You’re so insecure that a simple difference of opinion feels like a threat. Your ego is clearly too fragile for constructive conversations. Cdrama gossip appears to be your full time job! I understand. lol.

I don’t mind living in your head rent-free though. lol

      • @Somebody You have a bad eye for critiquing actors because you just follow trends like a sheep. If you see many praises for someone who seemingly have become popular, especially praises from non-Chinese accounts (because you look down on the Chinese), you will follow and praise that person. It just so happened that Xiao Zhan is a real trend while the rest are forced virality. But you don’t always praise Xiao Zhan, your words constantly implied that his acting hasn’t improved from The Untamed (which isn’t true).

You can continue playing the victim but you won’t fool anyone. It’s not just me who find you pompous, egoistic and insufferable, plenty of people here do so too. But of course, you label all of us as CCP supporters. 🤭

      • @Lilith, wow, you’re actually better at being me than I am. Should I just send you my login info? lol. I’ve realized your hobby is rewriting my thoughts in real-time. Honestly, it feels like you have a fetish to gaslight me. lol. For someone who tries so hard to be a drama guru, your taste is impressively lousy. Those ‘serious drama’ recommendations were absolute trash – I’m still laughing at the fact that you actually thought they were “art.” Lol.

It’s truly impressive how your mindset always aligns 100% with CCP talking points every single time. What a wild coincidence! You should really start charging them for all this mouthpiece work you’re doing. lmao

Sure, I hate the CCP and its mouthpieces – yourself and some other visitors included. But let’s not pretend you’re ‘undercover’ with your anti-US bias. You’re so passionate about attacking the West that only a bozo would miss it. It’s essentially your only personality trait at this point; maybe try a hobby that isn’t CCP’s script? lol.

Besides, you’re a total hypocrite! Why not put that ‘Grammar Czar’ badge to work on @Smh and 95% of the visitors here? They can’t even write legible English that native speakers understand. Oh, right, it’s hard to play teacher when you’re busy gaslighting me. Lmao, nice try though.

      • @Somebody Rewriting your thoughts? Are you going to backtrack on your words again? 😂 I can get the links to your words which implied those things, you know.

Hmmm you said my drama recommendations were absolute trash? Please do list those recommendations which you find to be trash. It will help to show other people how bad your taste is. 😂

You claim my mindset always align 100% with CCP? It’s more of you selectively choosing to ignore my criticisms on their censorship. You just want to think people who don’t like America or oppose to your opinion are CCP supporters. Period.

  2. The stills look like advertisements you would see in a magazine for some brand. Especially the pilot still. Like for an airline lol. Guess the teaser or trailer is not ready yet. That will help paint a better picture for me in regards to the flow or the point of the drama. The actress for me is good and the male lead has yet to be in a drama I can jive with. The one odd drama he did about senses with a less popular actress as leads is still the only drama I have watched all the way through with him. He somehow reminds me of a stoic robot and that drama seemed to work best for that style of acting. Even The Double did not impress me with him. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Every drama I keep hoping he will break out of that style more or less but he seems type casted in a way. In other words he has potential but his character choices always seem to bore me. Maybe this one will break the mold?

  3. Bunch of Zhang LingHe and Zhao LuSi’s fans talking about good acting. That is so funny. The ones who praise the robotic acting of Zhao LuSi in Love Ambition or her constant overacting in her other idol dramas are the same stating that Wang XingYue acting lack “X factor”. Cdramaland fans are funny eh.

    • If you’re comfortable critiquing almost every actor on Koalas, why is it different when the focus shifts to Wang XingYue? Why is criticism only acceptable when it isn’t directed at your favorite?

  4. I don’t mind going gaga over WXY if he delivers again like in the Double. lol

What’s wrong with passing on apples when they aren’t in season, but stocking up when they actually look good? Who says you have to worship an idol constantly? Drama fans can love an actor one moment and go cold turkey the next. Viewers have no obligation to be parasocially attached to one person; honestly, that kind of obsession feels like a mental illness. But a halfwit lacking an ounce of critical thinking or a free spirit simply can’t grasp that bottom line — which is exactly why she exposed her own idiocy by questioning me for “backtracking on my praise.” lol

    • You’re using the wrong analogy. What you are actually doing is claiming a brand of unsweet or mildly sweet apples to be very sweet just because the brand marketed itself as a brand selling sweet apples. People more knowledgeable than you already told you this brand’s apples are not sweet compared to other brands, but you refused to admit it and claimed these people as unhinged or a fan of the other apple brands.

You keep trying to blur the lines by emphasizing on no obligation to love an actor unconditionally, but this is about praises and criticisms of an actor’s acting skills. You kept praising overhyped actors with average acting skills as great actors and claiming people who criticized these actors’ acting to be fans of other actors. Then when the hype for these actors died down, you backtrack on your praises for them.

      • @Lilith

She has finally showed up on MDL. It is traumatising. She pollites everything. I will give you three guesses what she was doing there.

      • @Smh She must be yapping about how Korean dramas are supposedly better than Chinese dramas, demeaning Asian content and viewers while praising the West, pinning some blame on CCP, and calling everyone who opposes her opinion as XXX fan or CCP supporter. 🤣

      • @smh, you’re one of those who have tall poppy syndrome. Feeling anxious thanks to rising younger stars than your fav? lol

What the heck is MDL? Wow, you’re 0-for-2 on the ‘guess who I am’ game. Should I wait for the third strike? I didn’t realize I was dealing with a world-class mind reader. Don’t quit your day job just yet. Bold of you to assume you have the range to figure me out. Does it help you sleep better? lol

      • @Lilith

Close! She is presenting herself as a XZ fan and then attacking other XZ fans there because she is the “objective one”. Of course as the good little XZ anti, she is also trying to help TJC fans there who have been saying the worst things for months now. I knew I recognised that style of writing but it didn’t click until I got here!

      • @Smh Heh expected of this American cuckoo, always trying to invade and destroy. She uses the same tactic for all other groups like Asians, C-drama viewer, K-drama viewer etc. She would claim to be of Asian origins, then proceed to demean other Asians such as her Taiwanese relative, lastly she would frame herself as the model Asian. Same goes for C-drama and K-drama viewers.

She speaks and acts exactly like those undercover antis on Chinese social media, always gaslighting the real fans while siding with the opposite parties.

      • @Smh, I googled MLD, and this is what I got from AI search:

“Metachromatic leukodystrophy (MLD) is a rare, inherited metabolic disorder caused by ARSA gene mutations, leading to deficient enzyme activity, toxic sulfatide buildup, and destruction of the myelin sheath.”

WHAT THE HECK! How does this have to do with me? lol. Pure comedy! Hilarious!

    • @Lilith the Grammar Czar!!!! Please proofread your CCP buddy Smh’s comment. Don’t be two-faced! lol Actually, 95% the comments from the visitors to Koala’s blog need your honor’s editorial review LOL cuz they don’t sound natural to native speakers with typos here and there. @Smh is one of the worst besides her active mental gym! lol

      • Why would I correct non-native speakers? It’s totally understandable that non-native speakers will make grammatical errors and typos. You, on the other hand, is American and grew up there, of course you should have perfect English. But you don’t. LOL.

      • Oh you figured me out again!!!! lol. Wild mental gym you own! Respect! lol. Who told you I grew up in the US and had perfect English? Have I ever authorized you to write my biography? lol. Taiwanese and Chinese are my first languages. My Mandarin is always way better than English.

What about your Chinese? Hilarious! You talk like a ‘Chinese expert’ but got pulverized the moment you couldn’t even handle the basic slang I threw your way. It’s hard to take your “authority” seriously when you’re tripped up by the absolute basics. Lol.

Honestly, the way you keep trying to gaslight me is just pathetic. You’re a clown on all fronts: a “Grammar Czar” who ignores @Smh’s and others’ broken English but is persistently getting at me, a “Chinese expert” who got pulverized by the basic slang I threw at you, and a “drama guru” who recommend dramas that work wonders like sleeping pills LOL. You really need to stop talking like an authority on everything – it’s not working, and honestly, it’s just embarrassing to watch. Between the fake “Grammar Czar” act, the “Chinese expert” routine that got you pulverized, and your desperate CCP mouthpiece agenda on and off, it’s official: your mental state is questionable. Get some meds! I’m done with the circus! lol

      • I can’t help laughing out loud at “when ZLH’s water subsides,” “water this” and “water that.”…hahahahahaha…Besides, Lilith the bozo completely lost track of the number of typos and grammatical errors she had committed on this one single blogging site. lol. Learn to talk like native speakers first before acting as an English guru! Such a pillock! No shame at all!!!!

      • Omg you’re really dumb. It’s totally understandable for non-native speakers to not have perfect English. You, however, pride yourself as a native English speaker. Of course higher standards must be imposed on you 🤪

  5. I think WXY is a good actor and does have the x-factor, despite what many strange people here are claiming otherwise. The problem with him is that he is in YZ’s agency and the guy is known to control the development of his talents. After the double, NONE of wxy’s scripts have been good, neither has he been paired with good actresses. The wanted detective looked promising and he was pretty charismatic in that, but the story was boring and i found myself tuning out accidentally when the episode was being played. this modern plot looks thin on paper honestly and an overdone trope, so not sure how interesting it’s gonna be. have seen deng en xi in one of her recent period dramas where she was quite good.

    • I think Wang Xingyue simply doesn’t suit romance idol drama. His visual suits serious dramas more but Yu Zheng keeps giving him roles in idol dramas.

      • I was thinking that too. He has a mystery crime non-romance drama also in the works, so it’ll be interesting to see how he fares in that.

    • Wang XingYue is one of the better young actors active in the long-form chinese drama industry now and I am extremely intrigued to see fans of mediocre/superficial actors with by all accounts below-average voice acting like Zhang LingHe (he has been literally backed up by powerful entities to be at the top but he can be overshadowed by anyone) or Zhao LuSi (I repeat her acting in LA or The Last immortal or even Hidden Love was pure sh.t) talk about Wang XingYue lacking acting skills. It is no wonder the industry is in that state now. Fans have played a big role in that

      • I think they both have the potential to be absolute powerhouses. Why not supporting both rather than being biased towards only one and diss the other? It’s a fact that WXY’s remaining works other than the Double felt flat, and ZLH did just have a breakout hit PoJ although his remaining works are less impressive either. They have different acting styles. The industry thrives on diversity to meet the needs of different fanbases. Why not be more accommodating of other people’s tastes?
