Chen Zhe Yuan and Wang Chu Ran Start Filming iQiyi Period C-drama Tales of the Floating World
The idea of a tea shop sharing complicated stories of customer lives is ripe with great vignettes to tell. That is the premise of just start filming period C-drama Tales of the Floating Life (浮生 Fu Sheng) where the proprietress demon shares her special tea which brings forth the stories of her visitors, intertwined with her own tale of love and life. The iQiyi drama kicked off filming this week with leads Chen Zhe Yuan and Wang Chu Ran, and the addition of recent breakout Deng Kai from Pursuit of Jade as the second male lead. This drama casting didn’t generate too much fandom fighting or complaints but the arrival of Deng Kai has started filming off with some netizen commentary that he’s going to steal Chen Zhe Yuan’s thunder, starting with outshining him on height standing side-by-side.

Oh yes, I’ll be getting the pop corn.
CZY to me has the charisma of a wet towel, so if Deng Kai manages to do a second round of psycho killer Prince Qi Min, there’s going to be a war. Having said that, we don’t know what kind or roles they have – maybe Deng Kai is a good guy in this. And I don’t worry about the height difference – directors are used to find all kind of artistic ways to “shorten” too tall second leads!
Speaking of heights, according to their listed heights they are 9 cm apart, but from the picture where CYZ is not on tiptoes I think it is evident that one of them is lying. Maybe the shorter one, but also maybe Deng Kai: actors over 1.90 have been known to hide a few cm in order to not be considered too tall for roles.
