Chinese Variety Show Hello Saturday Under Fire for Putting Zhou Ye’s Picture on Zhang Jing Yi’s Name Placard During Her Guest Appearance
Lol, so even Chinese people think all Asians look alike haha. This is such a dumb mistake and a minor online furor but I do feel bad for actress Zhang Jing Yi. She was a guest on the variety show Hello Saturday (Hi6) this weekend and viewers noticed that a placard with her name on it had another actress Zhou Ye‘s face. These two actresses didn’t look alike to me before but I guess they have some resemblance, and of course are in the same generation cohort and level of competing for the same roles so this does feel like a shade of Zhang Jing Yi if someone in the production department at Hi6 did it intentionally. Of course it’s most likely just an error but who knows, her agency is demanding the episode be edited to fix it and she will also be halting promos this week.
Both Zhang Jingyi and Zhou Ye’s studios have spoken out but Hi6’s production team is still silent. The team should publicly apologize to both actresses and edit the placard. It should be very easy to them seeing as they had done a fantastic job of completely editing people out from an episode before.
She will be halting promos over this? Why?
I have to say good for zhang jingyi studio to stand up against such disrespect. Just for clout and trend of the show they does this. This will only cause sour situation between the fandoms of respective actress which is so bad as they already are always compared all the time where I’ve seen comments of zhang jingyi face and body shamed so it’s quite pitiful situation for her as even a variety show is using it for clout eventhough it will harm actress more. .Even can make amends but they do have history of favoring actors based on status so it’s obvious they won’t do the right thing since zhang jingyi and her agency aren’t very big or favored by big backers. They can make other clips delete in five minutes but can’t correct their mistake even afeter being told, it’s such a blatant disrespect. I hope the actress who don’t have strong ties and backer gets a little easy in this favoritism industry.
What do you mean by Zhang Jingyi not being favored and no big backers? She has Zhou Xun and Chen Kun behind her back. They are important aspects of her network. Do you really think she got what she currently has through her own merit alone? Hahaha She and Zhou Ye are almost at par in resources. Their alma mater, BFA, is also part of their resources.

From what I’ve seen in china industry favoritism,capital and connection always wins.
And btw chenkun and zhouxun might be on certain level helpful as boss of her company but it isn’t much of deal compared with other peers in the industry as we all know how fierce the competition in the industry is with many having real strong backers.You can see how a newcomers even debut with big big production project. That’s the real power of having a strong support and capital.
Zhouye debut was in better days movie (with zhou dongyu and jackson yee as cosatrs) as a newcomer. She made breakthrough with that movie. libingbing with established agency had her eye on zhouye since she was in college and favored her more and more since .Libingbing had many resources lined up for her even though she was just a newbie
As for zhang jingyi, she signed with a newly founded agency with no exposure and no other known artist in company. Her debut movie was low budget,but broke the boxoffice which was her breakthrough in movie, her boss gave her drama resource and it was from bilibili which becaeme hit despite low production drama. This made her breakthrough in drama.
So chenkun and zhouxun helps her get resource just like how other artists boss does because it’s their job. So it’s their work as boss to provide their artists works and that not called favoritism. The one good thing about dongshen is they believe in artist safety,understands the dark reality of industry for actors so they protect their artists from such and believes works should define actors. So they are known to be lowkey exposure company.
In comparison to such strong backed artists, zhouye and zhangjingyi are nothing because in china industry the bigbackers people have power to make or break anyone’s career, which zhouxun and chenkun or libingbing network can never do
If as you say zhangjingyi is so favored by them and chenkun and zhouxun are so powerful then zhangjingyi recent controversy of her disrepect wouldn’t have happened or they would have apologize by now but they haven’t till now.
You’re quite bias to advertise out here that ZY has better resources than ZJY. They’re about the same. No, actually, ZJY’s is better, they just different ways of handling their careers. ZY goes the “first billed” route in dramas, so her male leads are mostly unknowns. ZJY switches around, so she gets to lead dramas with famous male stars like Xiao Zhan, Chen Zheyuan, Li Xian, Song Wei Long, Zhou Yi Ran, and etc. She has so many famous male leads that mediocre to medium resources could never afford, so let’s not play that pity card. To be in a film with WYB and Tony? Uhhh, that’s solid backing most actresses her age can never. LBB is liked way less than ZX and CK in the general public, so no. ZJY is the only artist in that company, so she gets all the resources. ZY? XRH is a pretty good contender for them in the same company. ZJY has such good backing but she hasn’t blown up yet given that many good projects and that just depends on luck.
What? If ZJY was so big, how come Mango or the show haven’t apologized yet? Well, no one has apologized to ZY either dragging her into this mess and as usual, she’s being attacked. Both actresses have pretty good resources, just small fandoms and very average acting skills, so it’s pretty sad that they’ve now been formally pinned against one another now. How can you mistaken ZJY as ZY? Their faces are similar but not identical. Just sloppy at this point.
All i know is both the actresses debut in the industry as such. Zhouye and zhang jingyi resources when compared they are totally different, because they chose such script. Yes i agree zhouye prefers more being firstbilled so she even does drama with traffic actors, while zhang jingyi rather does drama based on script choice so she has well known costars also.
As for whether LBB is liked less by public or not doesn’t matter because she is promoting artist not acting so here only her network works and she is counted as a prominent veteren actors alongside others.
Zjy is not only actress, yes for drama she is but if you see in rednote and all you’ll know that when other her peers agency works hard to provide role dongshen doesn’t even try competing for her. Yes in zhouye agency there are other good emerging actress such as XRH but it’s still not quite comparable to zhouye.As we all know XRH debuted with movie but she has yet to get any new movie resources from her agency while in the meantime zhouye still gets both movie and drama resources. So here we can’t say it’s hard for zhouye in getting good resources just because there is XRH.
Not ZJY, Not ZY are in scarce of roles it’s just their personal preferences of script are way different form eachother and their agency ways of approach for them are different. I’m not saying zjy has struggled more than zhouye or vice versa, it’s just that till now both actress company have been doing this
Yes you are right no one has apologized to both actresses despite disrespect. Both actress are victim here of the variety show. I said it because some people had said zjy is big in the industry with powerful people behind her like chenkun and zhouxun so she had it easy which i replied if so big gets blatant mocking then why no action has been done.In this scenario,right action must have been done and that is apology form the show to both actress but they rather show attitude of being unapologetic. Here i hope both actress gets successful enough that one day hi6 would regret their actions.
Personally I’m both grils movie fan more than their dramas. I loved zjy acting in love will tear us apart, tale of night, unique. Same for zy i liked her in yesterday once more, moments we shared.
So when people says both are bland i hope they see their movies also to see that both actress are good.
Jenna, no one here agrees with you. Why? Because what you “believe” in isn’t true. ZJY has excellent and huge backing. I understand that you’re coming from a fan POV, but please have some common sense and don’t downplay it to make ZJY more credible or give us a pity party that she’s not getting good projects. She gets extremely good projects and her biggest advantage are her popular male leads! These famous male leads are very picky on who their leading ladies are. Just because ZJY isn’t as famous as other peers doesn’t mean she lacks capital. Perhaps she hasn’t blown up yet because her acting is lacking? And no. ZJY is literally ZX’s niece, not by blood, but association. With ZJY’s weak and bland acting, she’d be nowhere if she didn’t have ZX and CK constantly saving and promoting her. She has gotten main roles from the get go. Some people may never blow up and still get tons and tons of dramas like LYT because of her company. ZJY is still young, she still has time to improve on her acting and blow up later. But don’t give me this fallacy that she has no good resources. At least, if one day she decides to choose another agency, ZX and CK won’t play dirty and smear her like a lot of the celebrities out there.
Just because no one has come out to apologize to ZJY about the mishap, doesn’t mean she lacks anything. If you really think about it, it’s not that big of a deal. It’s not going to prevent her from getting good roles. She’s still filming every day with no issues. It’s still wrong of them but ZX and CK know best when to let things go and when to strike. Fans don’t even know the whole picture and they’re always demanding stuff. Just let the professionals do their thing. Fans sometimes make it worse.
As for ZY, she has less backing than ZJY for sure. In the end, she’s just another employee in that company, no personal relations there. LBB saw ZY’s face as a cash cow whereas ZX watched ZJY grow up, so it’s out of love. Don’t complain about ZY, seems like she’s running dry of resources. Her dramas have been super lackluster besides her acting. Her dramas compared to other artists in that company is poor to say the least although everyone has their own paths.
ZY is a better actress than ZJY in my opinion…. I could see it as positive that they thought that well of her lol.

Some people on this comments thread are hilarious. BOTH ZJY and ZY can’t act their way out of a paperbag but are getting all these lead roles and plum supporting roles in big films PRECISELE BECAUSE they have big backers and hence resources. ZJY is literally in Chen Kun/Zhou Xun’s agency and ZY in Li Bing Bing’s. Also both of them look quite alike from certain angles. One is wooden and haughty in all her roles (ZY), the other is wooden and has zero presence or emotions in anything she does (ZJY). I tink ZY edges her out by a very narrow margin cos she at least has some emotions but is not well utilised or matches the scenes she’s in.
The two looks like peas in a pod, the difference is in their personalities, one is bright and extrovert, the other is quiet and introvert. They tend to excel in roles that suit their personalities, they are not good enough to act out of their personality, so to say.
I’m camp ZY, she is such a bright spark and brings positive energy with her.
