Lim Ji Yeon in Talks for Dual Female Role in the K-drama Alike a Reimagining of The Prince and the Pauper — 17 Comments

  1. I’m a huge fan of both her and her beau. They look incredibly attractive when the script calls for it, and they completely outshine the rest of the cast in the acting department. Truly admirable talents.

I had a quick look at ep1 of My Royal Nemesis. It looked fun. I’m going to binge this drama after it’s all done airing.

    • She looks botched and plastic. But at least he has GREAT skills when it comes to acting. Her original face was better.

      • I did not recognize her in ep 1! Had to keep checking the cast list to confirm it as her! This was not how I remember her in earlier years. I haven’t watched her recent shows so I thought maybe it was just me. 😪

    • Im on ep 3 and really liking the drama. First time watching her too n shes really good. Gonna go check put her other work tho the glory is a Skip for me. Not into shk or her acting. But yes something that bothers me is whatever procedures she did to the lower half of her face. Her nose n lip. Her lips looked like fillers but they look pretty botched. Not sure what happened there

  2. Only if she puts a stop on plastic surgery. I am sorry to say because she is great, that she has gone way overboard. She is on the verge of messing up her face.

  3. She’s ok. Can’t get over her overdone looks. She did awesome in “The Glory”, but I can’t take her seriously as a lead.

  4. Lim Ji Yeon is such a versatile actress, so good at portraying her roles, she deserves more recognition and awards.

  5. I actually love her acting in My Royal Nemesis. But I honestly can’t stand her face. Too much plastic surgery going on. And it’s distracting me from enjoying the show.

  6. I don’t know why everyone is ranting about LJY’s face. Isn’t it true that almost all Asian celebs have had work done? Lol. Why are people only whining about her looks?

    • @Somebody – well, at least her acting is good enough to transcend the plastic surgery!

I’m fine with it when she’s in modern roles (even in MRN where she’s in the body of a 21st century woman) but in historical roles like the sageuk portion, it’s become so obvious that it breaks my suspension of disbelief.

That said, I would rather watch a good actress with an obvious nose job in a drama than a bad or mediocre one whose only skill is “didn’t have PS”. Bad acting breaks suspension of disbelief harder than lip fillers. Of course the ideal would be a good actress who hasn’t had obvious plastic surgery or fillers (e.g. Jun Jihyun, Kim Goeun, Kim Jiwon, Park Eunbin etc) but those are becoming rarer.

    • also people have been going off about Park Minyoung and Lee Jongsuk’s obvious PS for years, even though they’re also two actors I find skilled enough to offset the PS look.

    • What I really care about is whether they can tell a good story that’s worth my free time. A PS face is definitely a distraction if the acting is subpar. But when actors truly deliver, their looks are outweighed and don’t matter as much. My main exception is that I struggle to root for a character who is hyped up as an “ethereal beauty” or “the most handsome man in the universe” but actually looks pedestrian. Unfortunately, Cdramas in particular are full of this exact type of casting. lol
