C-drama Ci Tang Reportedly Switches Out Female Lead Wang Yu Wen for Tian Xi Wei After Her Popularity Rise in Pursuit of Jade — 18 Comments

  1. TXW would be crazy to accept another project with foundation general. They attacked her so much and his talentless self needs her again now to carry him, so she should just forget it?

She needs to work with people who can act, not wrinkled to death filter kings.

    • Wow, you’re really nasty. Even when I dislike certain actors, I still have boundaries and enough basic respect not to go overboard with hatred. The way you keep posting those comments feels unnecessarily cruel and obsessive. Criticizing someone is one thing, but constantly spreading hate and negativity is another level entirely.

At the end of the day, these are still real people, and it’s honestly disturbing how comfortable some people are being vicious online. Do you actually feel better after posting comments like that? Does tearing people down really help you sleep better at night?

      • Truth hurts.

He can’t act to save his life. His face looks good under a ton of make up only. He smiles and suddenly we are in a Doctor Who episode.

She is actually good. Why should she carry him, again, especially with his trash fans that are jealous AF of her and everyone else? Cope.

  2. Wow so harsh on the original actress chosen. Apart of me hopes she refuses because then it feels almost like being type casted. I want her to grow from simply being paired again because it somehow worked in poj. But if she does do it I will still watch in support of her but still it is in bad taste for them to do so for the former actress chosen. Would the former actress be ready for such a role I dont know for sure either because she seems well suited for modern than historical but still it would be so dirty if they do this. I remember that one Korean drama My Sassy Girl did this with the female leads role and it flopped. I Just don’t see any good in shafting someone like that but I guess that is show business. Messy.

  3. She has so many upcoming dramas attached to her name, when will she have time? Girl needs to rest a bit but I understand the urge to strike while the iron’s hot. I am enjoying Born With Luck and want to see her in more modern dramas. Unfortunately, her next modern drama is with Hu Yi Tian for Genius Girlfriend and I really don’t understand why he gets roles in the competitive drama environment as his acting and looks are nothing to write home about.

  4. I get they’re popular right now, but the production team needs to calm down with wanting a reunion already. The most important factor that made Pursuit of Jade so good was Zeng Qing Jie. Are they also looking to get him to come direct them again? Reunions seldom have the success the original had.

    • While the director is definitely one of the most important factors behind a successful production, I also think the script and the chemistry between the actors are just as important. Good chemistry cannot be forced — both actors need to be genuinely good at their craft for it to feel natural and convincing on screen. I watched Blossom from the same director, but personally I didn’t feel much chemistry between the protagonists, and the script felt too overused and predictable. A great director alone isn’t always enough if the story and character dynamics fail to connect with the audience.

      • Lol but the plot was sh.t and tencent and iqiyi had to rely on water tp give the illusion of having a megahit 🤷‍♀️

  5. Wow, if it’s true, I can’t wait to watch a reunion of ZLH and TXW. I love them in POJ so much and because they’re the reason why I’m watching Chinese drama again. So excited! I became a fan of both actors respectively. My favorite couple.

The last Chinese dramas I’ve watched and love the couples were Bu Bu Jing Xin and Goodby My Princess.

  6. I’m not sure if Tian Xi Wei would accept a reunion so soon. She comes off as someone who keeps her boundaries and is not into giving into CP-shipping. I feel like ZLH may also not want a reminder of the foundation general stuff.

I hope this is just a rumor and that the production isn’t really abandoning Wang Yuwen. Wang Yuwen is good and has been steadily acting in main roles, but just hasn’t found her IT-drama yet.

      • i saw on x that melon for female lead is song zuer and liwanda.
xiwei melon for this drama was from last month.

  7. Wang Yuwen can’t act, so combined with Zhang Linghe’s expressionless face, they make a fine couple. If they keep giving main roles to such people, nobody will notice the difference once they are all replaced by Ai-muppets.

  8. Although, I am fan and would love this, i really don’t see a reunion and this happening. His c-fans are kind of toxic right now and will go after anybody. I already saw Tian Xi Wei stepping back a bit during the later promotion of Pursuit of Jade to avoid getting rip into shreds. i don’t want any bad blood to sour Pursuit of Jade for me. Maybe when things simmered down a bit, we can have a healthy reunion, BUT then maybe no one cares, so it’s a double edge sword.

  9. Both of them are incredibly popular right now. POJ was such a huge hit domestic and internationally, and it brought even more attention and popularity to both of them individually. I’m actually a big fan of both actors, and I’m currently watching her latest detective drama, which I think is genuinely very good and shows how versatile she is as an actress.
At the same time, I think people need to be realistic. Just because two actors had amazing chemistry and a successful project together doesn’t automatically mean they will reunite immediately in another drama. In fact, when actors become this popular, they usually receive many different offers and often choose completely different genres or co-stars to avoid being overly tied to one pairing.
Of course, I would still love to see them collaborate again someday because their chemistry was undeniable, but personally, I don’t expect it to happen again so soon.
