Tian Xi Wei Offered Female Lead in Big Budget Adaptation of C-novel Deng Hua Xiao From the Writer of The Glory and Legend of the Female General
Since the success of Pursuit of Jade both leads have been rumored and discussed for what seems like every period C-drama in planning stages. It’s nice to be wanted and have options, so this may not happen but seems more on the likely side. Tian Xi Wei is reportedly the first choice female lead for the C-dramaDeng Hua Xiao (灯花笑) from the novel by Qian Shan Cha Ke who also wrote Legend of the Female General and The Glory, as well as the upcoming Rebirth of the Malicious Empress of Military Lineage. She’s worked with this production team before plus this is a strong female lead story so I can see her taking it. The male lead in early rumor stage is Li Yun Rui but the production is focused on lining her up and the male lead being cast will come second so his casting is even more up in the air for this drama.
I’ve read most of Qian Shan Cha Ke’s work and Deng Hua Xiao is different in tone from her more popular novels. The author’s novels always have FLs who undergo extreme hardship but they all had a chance for a do-over EXCEPT for this one.
In Deng Hua Xiao, there is no rebirth, transmigration, or other cheat codes. It’s grounded and a lot more somber. The FL is alone, fighting her enemies with just her superb medical/poison skills. It’s quite heartbreaking but with the right production team, it can be fantastic on screen.

I don’t think that she is a good fit for this role. The heroine has grown up under straining conditions, being severely poisoned and has an overall dark demeanour. TXW usually plays chippy characters which seems to suit her acting and looks. She looks too cute and healthy for such a dark character. This role would need an actress with a sharper edge. It is unfortunate when the chase for traffic overrides casting choices, so I hope this is just the usual rumour to create buzz for the drama.

it is the best novel from qian shan cha ke. the character comes from humble background, unlike her other novel characters. only problem is there are so much killing involved, i dont know how they will translate them into the drama.
Omg! Hands down the best novel from Qian Shan Cha Ke. They better not butcher it like they did with Legend of Female General. The FL needs strong acting skills so I’m favorable to this casting. I’m so so excited. Hopefully, they make it as gritty and gripping as The Double.
Excellent novel with one large caveat. The Chinese tend to butcher novels when adapting them so providing that they don’t do it this time, it would be great for her.
I’m favorable to this casting. Among the traffic actresses, only her and Zhao Lusi have the acting chops.
I would also add Song Zuer and Yang Zi to the list
Oh idk Song Zu’er was considered traffic. It seems like she is well known but doesn’t have a big fanbase. But yes I agree I love her acting as well.
Yang Zi seems to only be doing serious dramas now.
Yang Zi can’t act. It’s an embarrassing stain on cent that money keeps talking for her.
Song Zuer is not a traffic star, her fanbase isn’t as big as other post 95 actresses but she has a lot of casual drama fans because of her solid acting chops.
Oh, I love this novel too. I can see Zhao LuSi portraying this role. An opportunity to expand her new Black Lotus persona.
