Tencent Releases First Teaser for Period Romance The Palace Stewardess with Song Zu Er and Ding Yu Xi
So I like Song Zu Er but am very indifferent to Ding Yu Xi so his casting with her for the upcoming Tencent period romance The Palace Stewardess was a glass half empty proposition for me. But Tencent just released the first teaser and wow do I love it. The immaculate quite but intense vibes, gives off similar feels to Story of Kunning Palace and Love Like the Galaxy. And I don’t feel Ding Yu Xi’s less than perfectly handsome by C-ent standards visuals will be a detraction here as the intensity of the acting and chemistry standout first and foremost. Unfortunately Song Zu Er is so thin that a sneeze will send her flying so I hope the camera finds ways to not highlight it and let her performance fill the screen. The preview also ends with the new naming convention of using real names and by stroke order billing so Ding Yu Xi comes first but both leads use stage names.

I see what you mean about Dyx’s look. His face/physics come across as too juvenile, and then there’s some impression his face has been plastic retouched—it’s hard to know what to make of.
He fixed his teeth and whitening his skin. I don’t blame him taking plastic surgery knowing how severe the bullying were since his May boyfriend days
It’s beautifully shot And the director has managed to give the Ryan Ding an heroic aura. I do think he looks a lot prettier since he has done something to his face. But I don’t think he has the intensity of LLTG Leo Wu’s Ling BuYi.
I’m glad they stuck with the stage names for the video title. The credit in the preview video still sticks with Legal Name (Stage Name) though.
Anyways, the trailer looks great and I’m excited for the drama. I did side-eye the catching arrow in midair and throw it back move. I know it’s meant to be “our hero is so swoony”, but it always makes me feel like it’s too much.
Love Song Zu Er, but I dropped every drama I started with him. There is just something about his face that looks uncanny to me. But I will give this a try.
I think dyx’s average look will make transition to serious drama later easier (if he ever gets the opportunity) as those dramas usually depict the life of ordinary people as opposed to idol historical romance dramas.
As for sze, i think her resources have become worse after the tax scandal.
Guess I’m the odd one out. Love DYX but not a big fan of SZE. I’ll check it out to see how it goes once it airs.
Does DYX look average? Not to me! Where do the complaints about his visuals even come from? 😭 Still, I’ve never finished one of his dramas without fast-forwarding. The trailer looks interesting, though. I just hope Song Zuer doesn’t whisper all her lines. lol.
It looks beautiful and I do love SZE but I’m concerned/interested in seeing how much they change from the version I’ve read. But it looks like they’ve got good chemistry which should hopefully help any script mishaps?
When will her company of management will make her stop starving herself I wonder… From filming photo,vids to promotional photos she looks literally sick! Lost way too much weight it looks like 3-5kg away from Eugenia Cooney…Her fans acting like its as if something normal making me even more worried..
