Kim Tae Ri in Talks for Revenge Period K-drama Sister, I Am the Queen in This Life
Well this sounds spicy and girl power, and my gut tells me Kim Tae Ri is interested because it’s a change of genre for her. Top actress Kim Tae Ri is in talks for the K-drama adaptation of webtoon Sister, I Am the Queen in This Life. It’s a faux historical European country setting much like The Remarried Empress setting, but not sure if the drama adaptation will stick with it or transplant it to Joseon or even earlier Korean historical era. The drama has the female lead, abandoned by her parents, older sister, and even fiancee, waking up having gone back in time 15 years earlier before the events happened and gets a re-do where she changes her fate and gets revenge on those who have wronged her. No word yet on which network will air this but I’m sat for Kim Tae Ri doing the popular C-drama take on cunning female lead gets second chance story line.
I find it extremely weird how all these webtoons use a faux European setting. How cringy!
I’ve read a lot of them and they’re quite immersive with beautiful visuals. It helps that I grew up on anime that take place in all sorts of not-Japan settings. I find it works well in the webtoon format, but I’m leery of them bringing it to the live-action space. Then again, Korean theatre can do renditions of Shakespeare in Love without it being awkward.
I do hope they adapt it into Joseon times like with First Night with the Duke or some fictional ancient fantasy Korean dynasty (like Alchemy of Souls).
I’m also interested in this rebirth/revenge Kdrama! Cdramas in the same genre have gotten a bit boring lately.
Korea doesnt do European style stuff well at all so they needa stay away from that and just have it set in their own cultural lane.
