Republic Era Revenge and Romance C-drama Overdo with Zhang Ling He and Wang Chu Ran Confirm July 19th Premiere on Both Tencent and iQiyi
So the heat of summer may be getting hotter this weekend with the just confirmed premiere date on Sunday July 19th for Overdo (这一秒过火 or This Second Catch Fire). Starring Zhang Ling He and Wang Chu Ran as former lovers separated and reunited in a hate to love you way, this push-and-pull toxic type romance is totally up the alley of many a viewer I’m sure. It doesn’t hurt that the era costumes look fantastic on both leads and their visuals and height match up quite well onscreen. It will also be a test of whether the incredible runaway success of Pursuit of Jade for Zhang Ling He will manifest immediately into higher than expected viewership for this drama and continue keeping his buzz high. Wang Chu Ran has successfully rebuilt her career with a string of solid if not breakout period dramas in the last two years and I’m really liking her onscreen presence and acting nowadays.

Agree about Wang Churan, really like how natural her acting is and her screen presence. I wish she can work with better director and screenwriter. The drama offer to her seems lower quality compare to other 95 actress with bigger agency.

Wang Churan is of the two actresses I feel are a visual match with Zhang Linghe so far (the other being Tian Xiwei).
She is gorgeous and I agree her acting and presence is really natural. I enjoyed her modern drama Love Has Fireworks with Tan Jianci and her historical drama Are You the One with Zhang Wanyi. Now she is finally getting a handsome AND tall male lead.
Zhang Linghe’s handsomeness really varies with the styling. I watched him in Story of Kunning Palace and Love Between Fairy and Devil, but he only look normal handsome. Its only until Pursuit of Jade that he became super handsome. This is another drama which brought out his good looks.
So yeah lets just pray the plot will be decent so this becomes another hit like POJ.
Yes,same, also really enjoyed Love Has Fireworks and Are You The One and like you thought her acting and presence was really natural. She worked well with both her co-stars, enjoyed their interactions/chemistry. They were fun together.

They both have amazing visual, but their acting leaves a lot to be desired. Zero on screen chemistry. Not to mention the CGI, lmao. Is it really a S+ drama?
