Bai Lu Announces She’s Leaving Huanyu Entertainment and Thanks Producer Yu Zheng for Ten Years of Supporting Her
It’s the end of an era for C-actress Bai Lu, and she’s leaving on what looks by all accounts to be mutually amicable terms. She announced today the long running rumor that she will be leaving long time agency Huanyu Entertainment, founded by producer (and writer/director) Yu Zheng. She was under the agency for ten years and it was up for renewal so everyone was watching to see if she would stay for another round or set off on her own. She posted a very long message on Weibo for her fans first thanking Huanyu and its founders and team for supporting her for ten years along with her loyal fandom. She leaves with a grateful heart and is setting out on a new phase of her career with an open heart. Her drama projects under Huanyu have been a mixed bag but with more hits than misses overall, and of course the agency absolutely promoted the shit out of her by casting her nonstop in dramas it was producing. Good luck to Bai Lu and I’m curious to see what type of roles she picks now that she has autonomy to make her own decisions.

She/they did well out of the partnership, I guess. Leaving amicably too it seems, a win-win.
Have enjoyed some of her works and will watch future ones, if they’re good.
She will be ok. She still has a big backer after all. Hopefully he can deliver because her acting is getting worse with each drama so she sure isn’t getting anything better than costumes based on that.
Who is her backer? All the entertainment gossip bloggers say Yu Zheng doesn’t dare to do to her what he did to others who left Huanyu because Bai Lu’s backer is bigger than him but they’re so vague.
Apparently former chairman of Jiangsu Cultural Investment Management Group. Netizens found out that the organization apparently only invested in Bai Lu’s dramas out of all Jiangsu artists. Her fans argue that its because she’s the most popular Jiangsu actress.
I think she’s finally going to go back to modern next with an Yi Shu drama for her career transition. If its underperforms like Northward did, she’ll probably go back to spamming costumes again to secure her popularity.
if she had no say to choose which drama to act, then it’s better to leave. all the best to her.
Not sure I understand all this dislike of Bailu. I do agree they overused her and she does too many dramas. It makes audiences tired of her. I find her to be a good actress and find her charming. I think maybe she got typecast and maybe overworked. Hopefully she can slow down a little and make more quality dramas. In all fairness some of the writing in her past dramas was pretty bad and had nothing to do with the actors who ypu could see were trying hard.
Smart choice, Yuzheng will only use her fame to promote his loved artists if she stays ,and honestly, staying with company you debut with is not good cuz you endup with similar conditions you signed your first contract and cant ask for more
Glad it sounds like they parted amicably or at least they made the effort to sound like they parted on good terms. With all the backlash against her, I had started suspecting some agency scheming. I hope this means she can rest and slow down and do dramas that feel meaningful to her and don’t negatively impact her health.
