Chen Du Ling and Qi Chu Xiao Start Filming Tencent Modern Romance C-drama Dong Feng Chui You Sheng
A good casting needs a good script needs a good script. It’s forever the tripartite working in tandem that makes a drama succeed. I was super excited for modern romance C-drama Love For You but after watching the first two episodes I just got bored and I like leads Zhang Jing Yi and Song Wei Long and on paper their characters and relationship is my jam. But the drama was just so boring off the bat, and maybe it picked up but I just didn’t have the patience. These days fewer and fewer long dramas are filming in Hendian so hearing Tencent greenlit a reportedly S+ budget modern romance that just started filming piqued my interest. The drama is titled 冬风吹又生 Dong Feng Chui You Sheng and stars Chen Du Ling with Qu Chu Xiao, an interesting and frankly out of nowhere casting but heck even the big names smushed together can create dull as dishwater projects so let these two try and make something surprisingly fun hopefully.

I’m quite indifferent to Chen Duling, but I do like Qu Chuxiao a lot as an actor. He’s one of the young actors who can deliver both in costume and modern dramas, and can be charming though he’s not conventionally handsome.
It seems like modern romance cdramas rely alot on beautiful cinematography and visuals to sell. The plot is usually boring. The only modern romance dramas I enjoyed recently are Love Between Lines and Love Has Fireworks because they have some comedy elements in it. This looks like another boring modern romance like Love for You.
I’m enjoying Road to Success and I’m not even a fan of Esther but she is toned down here and boy the ML is handsome and looks a little like a young Jang Dong Gun and taller at that. Get a sense of where was this guy hiding all this time!?
The soccer team actors are also very good and really elevate the drama. The pacing is good not boring nor cringey. (I’m at ep18/ep32 so fingers crossed it continues to be good.)
I paused with LBL and LHF but you are right both are quite good for a c-modern-drama.
Road to Success is on my list as well because the plot with the soccer boys seems interesting.
I’m enjoying this too, and I never care about football, but it is entertaining at the right places, and I appreciate a manly ML, as I’m sure many feels the same, those pretty MLs are starting to look all the same. The last drama I enjoyed is A Splendid Match, with yet another manly ML.
Another one that surprised me was Dazzling, some say has a Hometown Cha Cha Cha vibe. I never thought I could like a LYR in blond hair and with GXT. But it worked somehow. Supporting cast is good too.
Looks like he survived his scandals. The court was on his side for one of the case. Now he can build his career back. He is a good actor.
