Song Kang and Kim So Hyun Confirmed for MBC Romance K-drama White Scandal Heading into Production Fall of 2026
Let’s resurrect a good old slice of K-drama fantastic onscreen chemistry and hope the second go-around is both as good and the two get a better story to go alongside it. Kim So Hyun and Song Kang are confirmed for the MBC romance K-drama White Scandal, after earlier being discussed for the roles that would reunite the two now nearly 7-years after popular Netflix K-drama Love Alarm. He plays a chaebol heir and she’s the now down on her luck once popular child actress, and theirs will be a fake marriage set up that of course turns to real love. Just inject this into my veins lol, these two and this super trite but always satisfying if done right plot is so my jam. The drama will be from the PD of Flower of Evil with the script by the writer of Call it Love. Filming is set to start later this fall with the drama slated for a 2027 release.
Almost exactly 7 years since LA aired and almost 8 years since the cast was first announced with a whole “WHO IS HE?” to the now HALLYU ROYALTY and Netflix Son. How times have changed but hopefully the chemistry is still electric and not ruined by bad writing and too much focus in side characters. Give us all those swoon moments we deserve! MBC don’t mess this up.
Finally! Very much looking forward to this reunion! I know it’s popular to hate on Love Alarm now, but IDC, I genuinely liked the drama and thought KSH and SK had great chemistry. The season 2 was just boring, but it still made sense for the female lead to choose the male lead when she became an adult. She had issues and trauma and stuff, so of course she’ll pick someone who will can be a stable rock to her and give her the calm life she needs.
And with this reunion, the deranged people who hate Kim So Hyun for choosing the male lead in Love Alarm can finally stop hating now. It baffles me how many people can’t separate the actors from the characters in the first place.
On a more shallow note, I can’t wait for these two to bless my screen with their beauty lol
I’ve never really gotten the appeal of Song Kang. But I’m rooting for the director and the writer on this project! I just hope he doesn’t ruin their reputation, lol.
Call It Love was so good but yeah Song Kang is not on the level of either Kim Young Kwang or Lee Sung Kyung in terms of acting skills (understatement lol)

The appeal is on his face and body. No one is watching a Song Kang drama for his acting skills lol. Which is fine! I just don’t like it when his fans claim he’s a great actor and that he’s the one carrying the dramas or whatever. I’ve literally seen one Song Kang fan claimed that he carried My Demon, and I just had to scratch my head.
Anyway, I’m a shallow bih and I have actors I watch purely for the eye candy and I’m not ashamed of that. I just don’t pretend that I’m watching for their “acting” lol
I’m shallow too. I’m also a HUGE fan of visuals. Otherwise why Kdrama or Cdrama? Yet somehow, SK’s face and body still manage to do absolutely nothing for me. lol.
My Demon’s premise was promising on paper but the execution failed so bad. I hope this time Song Kang can do better. Kim Sohyun is such an anomaly cus she was on the rise but out of nowhere her performance falls flat one after another.
Hope both of them can actually prove their star power is on par with their chemistry and talent
About Kim Sohyun, yeah, she’s always been a good actress since she was a kid. Her recent performances weren’t terrible, but not up to par with her previous ones like in School 2015 and Tale of Nokdu. Maybe she was burnt out or something? I don’t know. But I’m hoping her long break was able to revitalize her passion for acting. Maybe all she needs is a really complex role that challenges her (I know Good Boy is an action drama, and her action scenes were challenging, but she didn’t need to do a lot in terms of emoting). I’d love to see her play feisty or morally grey characters again like in her previous works, those roles were what made me fall in love with her acting in the first place
