Rapper T.O.P. Formerly of Big Bang and Idol Turned Actress Nana Confirmed to be Dating — 12 Comments

  1. Nobody cares about BigBang anymore. K-pop has evolved too quickly since their era. To the newer generation of fans, artists like T.O.P are largely forgotten.

    • “Nobody cares” is a pretty sweeping claim for a group whose 2026 world tour opening shows sold out in 22 minutes. G-Dragon also won Artist of the Year, Album of the Year and Best Song of the Year at the 2025 Melon Music Awards. Those are recent achievements, not memories from their heyday.

As for T.O.P, appearing as Thanos in Squid Game Season 2 hardly supports the idea that he has disappeared from public view.

Of course K-pop has evolved, and some newer fans may be less familiar with earlier generations. But that doesn’t make BIGBANG irrelevant or erase their influence on the artists who followed. You’re entitled to your preferences; treating them as a measure of what everyone else cares about is another matter.

      • Its probably only G-Dragon that is still relevant. I was so surprised Ubermensch sold a million copies. Thats more than any albums Big Bang have sold. At this point he is probably more popular than his group.

Taeyang and Daesung are cruising by with Big Bang’s name, with Dae having more impact because of his Japanese fanbase and talent in variety show. T.O.P on the other hand, has completely flopped.

    • I was never a fan of BIGBANG but they still keep moving millions of folks to their tours, which the freshest KPOP groups can’t do yet. LOL. It’s smoke and mirrors because although it seems like there’s noise around them but it doesn’t really translate to real folks wanting to see them, which explains why several groups have low attendance at concerts/tours.

BIGBANG is not confined to the KPOP bubble which has made them have a big male fanbase.

They still have a certain legacy.

Groups like 2PM are already forgotten. Data does not lie.😂

      • Are you talking about domestic tours only? Every single global tour for BTS and Stray Kids sold out in minutes. These two younger groups have a much larger global presence than BigBang and are currently dominating the K-pop landscape. As a matter of fact, the majority of Kpop revenues come from the international markets. Therefore, it’s sorta correct to say nobody cares about BigBang that much anymore.

      • Hi. The groups you mention are strictly confined to their female fanbases and remain inside the K-pop bubble, even though they have garnered greater “global” attention. BTS and Stray Kids lack the pull to interest the general public, and consequently, they don’t have significant numbers of male listeners/concert attendees. Men overall tend to view K-pop as ridiculous. There are Western artists I don’t like at all, but I can recognize them and a couple of their songs.

BTS members have solo songs with billions of streams, but if you aren’t familiar with K-pop, you wouldn’t even know they exist. Lmao. The reactions to BTS’s performance at the FIFA made it clear.

I remember locals making fun of them when members of both groups appeared on lists of the most handsome East Asians. It was embarrassing.

Jungkook is an average vocalist, but he appeared on a “powerhouse vocalist” list only to be ridiculed once again. Only his fans have deluded themselves into believing he’s highly talented.

Fandoms are what keep groups afloat; that is why “fanservice” is the number one tool for getting people —primarily women— hooked. If it were solely about the music, the results would be different.

It would also be correct to say that nobody cares about BTS and SKZ, only their fans do.

      • Agree with HuY. That’s why we as ARMYS are always on the lookout to support BTS because obviously the other fandoms and casual listeners aren’t going to do it. BTS is KPOP, but KPOP is not BTS. Even Stray Kids is abysmally far from them.

Multistans in the KPOP communities are scarce, and we ARMYS only stan BTS.

      • Then how do you explain BTS and Stray Kids ranking #1 on the Billboard 200 and Hot 100 charts multiple times? I don’t think female fans alone could make that happen. Lol. I’m not a fan of either group, I’m just speaking facts. They both achieved what their Kpop seniors failed to achieve.

      • @SOMEBODY. Data from Spotify, Apple, and Melon shows a very low percentage of male listeners lol. Female fandoms are more powerful because they are more loyal, no matter how many years pass. Even the numbers of men attending their concerts doesn’t even make 5% overall. BTS was #1 on Billboard led by ARMYS, one of the most powerful fandoms in the world. No one in the general public knows the song or cares because they are still viewed with prejudice for being a boyband. Men who consume KPOP are more interested in girl groups, the statistics are there to show the point.

Sure, both have managed to expand to the West, but as I mentioned, that expansion is still within the KPOP bubble. Hence, locals don’t recognize them, but they know about names like Bad Bunny regardless of whether they hate him or not lol.

BLACKPINK is also expanded in the West, but no one knew who Jennie was when she participated in the remix of Dracula with Tame Impala.

On Taehyung’s solo album there are songs with billions of plays on Spotify but their monthly listeners don’t reach 5 million because ARMYS don’t really listen to them again, and the general public even less.

Stray Kids, BTS, and BLACKPINK have managed to gather 1 million people on tour of less than 35 stops. The K-pop group Seventeen also did it in 30 in East Asia and Southeast Asia alone (but their fandom in the West is not big).

Cortis in South Korea has 42% male listeners on Melon. Let’s see if they grow in the West.

        Sorry for the long reply.

      • We’re not talking about just any female fans. We’re talking about highly organized and dedicated fandoms composed of women lol. There are big groups in Asia, but their western fandom is lazy or just on the small side. So kudos to BTS and SKZ for getting attention in both regions of the world. But personally, I wouldn’t recommend them. SKZ has noise music, mediocre visuals, and average skills (except for rappers. Han and Changbin are superb at rapping). BTS too, almost the entire group is made up of botched and almost untalented men. Jin is stiff and can barely hold a note. BLACKPINK members are lazy.😂

BTS members still need 10 additional people to write lame lyrics. Well, they’re still a boyband I guess.

BTW, what Kpop acts are your favs?
