So it was western Valentine’s Day this week and with it a bunch of modern romance C-dramas on deck released new posters. One of them was The White Olive Tree which I wasn’t even tracking but now am intrigued solely because it looks like a remake of Descendants of the Sun. But the drama is based on the same name novel so I guess it’s just the set up of a soldier in a war zone country falling for a reporter stationed there but a tragedy splits them up only to reunite back in China. The drama stars Chen Zhe Yuan and Liang Jie and will stream on iQiyi. The first teaser is straight out of DotS though with the two leads in slow mo looking at each other warmly as soldiers and medical personnel and the like go about their business around them.
