I have to thank C-netizens and commentators for doing the drama god’s work and assembling all the notable bad acting screenshots from her latest drama In Blossom, where she not only is being panned for her acting limitations but also look even worse next to guest starring Zheng Hehuizi playing the same character. One especially funny scene has Ju Jing Yi being strung up and hung and her hands are grabbing the stop but her neck is a good two inches above the rope rather than flush with it. Netizens are saying stuff like that is what she does because she doesn’t want to look not pretty so she doesn’t act naturally in order to preserve the visuals onscreen. To be fair, the rope thing is probably the director’s fault. I’ve watched dramas with both AB and JJY, and while JJY will not win any acting awards, she’s not THAT bad. She has a certain natural charm and spark that makes her watchable. ZHHZ is a little overhyped IMO. She was fine but not anything extraordinary like people say. Something about her eyes bug me a bit, and she wasn’t really that good after the body swap happened (albeit it was a very short scene).

ZHHZ seemed extra good because after the actress switch. I was like… wow so it could be that bad. When I saw the first two episodes, I just thought, oh she’s cool, maybe a B-actress. Then with a comparison to JJY, I was like, ok the last chick is an A+ if this one is considered acceptable or a C.
I just thought when they swapped face, the FL hair and clothes remain that of JJY character. Should it not be the face changed only? And they should have also gotten both actresses who are similar in body shape, not to even mention the mannerisms as one pointed out. Seems like not much thought given or it’s a low budget drama. But these are basics IMO. And JJY is stark white bordering on bleaching skin but I’d like to think she is really very fair, but contrasting with super red lipstick makes her really ghostly. To me, YCY is pretty (seems w/o PS) and has the height but just not can act well, and not endearing when she acts so always get the hate. I do feel some actresses are more likeable/ have certain charisma that compensate for their limited acting.
I feel like her makeup and image might be what her agency pushes to do just like how Esther yu’s agency does not want to stop the cutesy act sort of thing. You got to sell an image and something that stands out to create a fan base. They seem to rely heavily on that fan base. No excuse for no improvement in acting but it seems for a majority of Asian celebs function more on image than substance in general. If not Angela baby or jjy. Better than Shen Li, I think the plot is interesting and pacing is fast. If you watch for the romance between the leads, then you’ll probably find fault with JJY though? I’ve generally forwarded through the romances scenes. However I think White Cat Legend is a much better show if comparing similar mystery plot/ case solving type of shows.

I thought she was watchable in Legend of Yunxi and she has that bright heroine vibe combined with looks that can make her watchable…but with each drama, it becomes more obvious that she doesn’t take acting seriously. Keeping the same look and reluctance to appear less than perfectly pretty even for a few minutes across so many roles also ruins the immersion experience. Each role feels more like she’s modelling a pretty costume. It doesn’t help that the directors feel like they have to allow subpar work because of her popularity.
I feel like if she lets herself go and gets some training, she can really improve.
But none of this is stopping her from getting lead roles nor is it stopping lots of people from watching. This isn’t a case of “if you slack off at work, you won’t get promoted. You’ll probably get fired and have a hard time getting a job.” She should just make as much money as she can from her looks while she’s still young and pretty. Don’t tell me I’m the only one who noticed during The Last Immortal, ZLY bought lots of hotsearches saying ZLS cannot compare with her pastdue Hua Qiang Gu. BAM, now The Legend of Shen Li is out, ZLY looks old and has thick layers of cakey makeup with thick layers of filters, I don’t see ZLS laughing anywhere at ZLY for being the one who can’t compare with the younger generations. She does lots of marketing behind others. The Legend of Shen Li has more serious flaws than all other dramas. However, feedbacks on it is extremely positive to the point of untrustworthiness. The series is very engaging, in fact it’s even better than some of the other crime solving/ mystery series out there. There’s no princess carry, slowly looking at each other eyes, FL can’t do anything by herself and need to depend on the ML and other drama tropes.

Ju Jingyi not that bad actress. I watched her some dramas like Please Give Me Pair of Wings, Legend Of Yunxi, Mr. Swimmer, Novaland The Castle In the sky, In Class of her own. Back then she was dedicated actress because of her agency type casting her every dramas after that her acting is not improving. I watched her all dramas but i found this year both role her played role are out of her acting range!
