C-drama The Golden Hairpin Closer to Airing in Q4 2024 After Completing Reshoots with New Male Lead Peng Guan Ying and OG Female Lead Yang Zi

There is new news about the long shelved big budget and high profile C-drama The Golden Hairpin adapted from a very popular period C-novel. The completed drama was iced after original male lead Wu Yi Fan (Kris Wu) was arrested and now convicted and jailed for sexual assault and other crimes. After lots of fits and starts with re-filming the male lead scenes, it’s finally been completed over the summer with new male lead Peng Guan Ying taking over. He filmed for over a month and it included original female lead Yang Zi taking a week to re-film her close up scenes with him as well. Now the drama is reportedly airing at the very end of October 2024, but if that slips it’s still highly likely to air sometime in Q4 of this year. It will simultaneously air on terrestrial CCTV-8 channel as well as streaming on Tencent.

  1. I did hear that this news is fake and that it will broadcast early next year but then again at this point I think it doesn’t even matter when it airs because a lot of people have been waiting for it

ps I liked the older name the golden hairpin. The golden compass sounds weird

  2. That is so wild. I feel I would watch it for curiosity. Like will it look natural? Or will it stick out like a sore thumb? So intriguing ๐Ÿคจ ๐Ÿ˜„

  4. I absolutely hated the Korean adaptation (Our Blooming Youth) so not sure if I will watch this one despite liking both leads

  5. Oh My, just remember that i havent finished the book yet.

Been waiting for this drama.. finally. But will it look good? But with them takes so many times to re-do everything… hope it’ll do well when it airs later.
