This weekend was the 2024 Blue Dragon Film Awards held in Seoul and all the big movie stars were out and about, including one who recently had quite a paternity scandal haha. The big winners were the movie 12.12: The Day (Seoul Spring) winning Best Picture but Best Director went to Exhuma director Jang Hae Hyun so the two movies basically split the top honors. Hwang Jung Min won Best Actor for 12:12 and Kim Go Eun continues her win streak for Exhuma taking home Best Actress. A surprise in the supporting categories with Jung Hae In winning Best Supporting Actor for I, The Executioner (Veteran 2) and Lee Sang Hee got Best Supporting Actress for the indie movie My Name Is Loh Kiwan. The popularity prizes went to D.P. costars Jung Hae In and Koo Kyo Hwan as well as Lim Ji Yeon and Tang Wei.
As usual at a Korean award ceremony the fashion was a boring sea of black and white dresses with maybe a handful of dresses that were an actual colour.
Congratulations Kim Go Eun. I’m not sure of the cut off dates for eligibility but she could be back in contention next year for Love in the Big City too. She is really the representative actress of generation at this point. Kim Tae Ri is her only other competition but she has focused on dramas the last few years (to great success, of course) but I hope she is sent a good film script soon too.
Jung Hae In is having a very good year. His shocked reaction to winning Best Supporting Actor was so funny
Love in the big city was nominated in 2 categories this year, with Noh Sang-hyun winning best new actor
@Jenoo: Good point. I was surprised Lee Do Hyun didn’t win considering how successful Exhuma was at the awards. I guess she will be nominated for the 2025 Baeksang Awards for LITBC as she won the 2024 Baeksang for ‘Exhuma’ already.
