SBS to Broadcast C-drama Legend of Zang Hai Becoming Second C-drama Ever Broadcast on Korean Television in Two Decades After Drama My Fair Princess
Add another success to the already incredibly successful run of period revenge C-drama Legend of Zang Hai. The drama premiered in May and went on to dominate the month during its entire run across all the major buzz and viewership metrics. It’s male lead Xiao Zhan‘s biggest hit since his breakthrough with The Untamed and he carried the entire drama. This week it’s being reported that one of South Korea’s big three television networks SBS has acquired broadcast rights to the drama and will be airing it on TV. This will be only the second C-drama to ever air on Korean television after My Fair Princess (Princess Returning Pearl) the original blockbuster super hit over two decades ago. Get ready for more SK fans for Xiao Zhan after it airs for sure.

Marry My Husband Japan is airing on tvn and now this! Loving whats happening in Asian dramas recently and we need more collaborations across China, South Korea and Japan! Good times!
I love the lead actor…Satoh Takeru
The information above is not accurate.
SBS F!L UHD is a premium channel under SBS and has released a trailer for LoZH. The drama will soon be broadcasted on SBS F!L UHD, not SBS.
Not sure how many Chinese dramas have aired on South Korean television after My Fair Princess but LoZH will not be only the second one to do so.
Blossoms Shanghai starring Hu Ge and directed by Wong Kar Wai premieres on SBS F!L UHD on July 7th.

The Chosun Ilbo aka The Chosun Daily is the among the oldest active and widely circulated newspapers in South Korea. The link I provided is from its English language news website that provides a selection of articles from The Chosun Ilbo.
Not sure what kind of media outlet nomusica.com is but I do not get my news from there.
My Fair Princess (Princess Returning Pearl) season 1 and 2 are my favorites back then. I watched that many times. I thought there were other cdramas after Princess Pearl aired in Korea back then. Xiao Zhan sometimes reminds me a bit of Seo Kang Joon.
Definitely a must watch. Every episode has a twist. I was glued to the drama.. after a long time I enjoyed the suspense
It’s really good! You won’t regret watching it!!! Xiao Zhan, the lead actor, is so amazing in this drama too😍
Lol…korea national tv just now is showing flourished peony seen on weibo they started 1 or 2 days ago
I’m from Trinidad 🇹🇹 in the West indies and I watched it on Rakuten Viki and enjoyed ever episode. It had everything needed in a drama, no prolong dead scenes just as I expected a drama to be.
While there are reasonably good actors in C-dramas, I can’t name anyone who has delivered an impressive or stellar performance. Xiao Zhan is generally enticing, but he is not the only one. He has not captivated me like certain actors in K-dramas. However, he is good enough for me to want to follow him, I also appreciate his strong work ethic. I’ve heard great things about Chen Kun, Hu Ge, Zhu Yi Long, Ma Yi Li, Fang Yi Lun, Ni Ni, so I’ll check them out to see if I can add more Chinese names to my list. If anyone can help me with recommendations, thanks in advance.
All that written, LOZH is one of the few C-dramas I was able to finish. It’s been a good ride!
Hater spotted.🤢
If you can’t appreciate him, why you don’t go back to watching your pathetics South Koreans? Just say that you dislike Chinese people and stop pretending to be a fan like many users on here.
Alas, OP even praise Xiao Zhan but since she didn’t say he’s the best here and there, you’ve already put yourself in alert mode haha. @Jussu, I regularly watch Chinese dramas for convenience (the availability on Yotube makes the experience easier for me) and for guilty pleasure (I have a preference for their visuals, especially in xianxia). Actors on Chinese cinema have stronger acting skills and range – I consumed their movies religiously, but once you are knowledgeable about the CCP propaganda, it’s hard to avoid not noticing it again lol.
@Lololol, man are you ok? How in the comment did @JUSSU say she did not appreciate XZ? I only read compliment from the OP. Chinese PLZ stop getting touchy all the time. lol.
Why is his fans is so sensitive and defensive. We all appreciated good drama no matter whom but in many platform his fans behaviours is such a drawback
It depends on what sort of dramas you like. Chen Kun and Ni Ni were in RISE OF THE PHOENIXES, which is a much better palace intrigue / revenge drama than Legend of Zhang Hai, which is simpler and has a pulpy element. But RISE is 70 episodes long, has a huge cast, and the last arc is unnecessary and leads to a controversial ending, which I did not care for.
If you like philosophical cerebral SF, with a conspiracy vibe shot like a Norwegian noir show, that actually doesn’t flinch from the oppression of the Cultural Revolution, then try THREE BODY PROBLEM with Yu He Wei as one of the main leads. He’s a fantastic actor.
If you like police proceedurals, then try UNDER THE SKIN with Tan Jian Ci and Jin Shi Jia (both solid actors), as reluctant partners with a past conflict. Besides the female centric cases that provoke discussion, this one is unique because Tan Jian Ci plays a police sketch artist / art historian with amazing skills that frames many of the cases with historical art pieces.
Sorry no sorry! People have different preference. ALL the dramas you mentioned failed me and none of those actors are appealing to me either. Specifically, I have to disagree Rise of the Phoenixes is a better court politics/revenge drama than LoZH. That long-ass draggy drama failed to live up to its hype as many old Cdrama fans love to rave about and recommended relentlessly to new Cdrama fans. lol. It’s a huge waste of my precious time just checking out those dramas.
@Somebody the problem I have with the so-called subjectivity is that there are people who forget that for a drama to be good, it must first meet certain artistic parameters – TLOZH and NIF are productions that have them. Acknowledging that both are good, I let my personal preferences come in depending on one, two or more factors. I would say I prefer Nirvana In Fire because of my I love for Hu Ge lol. It’s a matter of my feelings, and they don’t imply any disdain towards Xiao Zhan.
Now, let’s be serious. How are they going to compare Rise Of Phoenixes with The Legend of Zhang Hai if the first one has severe issues in direction and writing, which are objective parameters?
I like to apply the same logic when it comes to acting. Just because I like an actor doesn’t mean he is talented. I will cite Yang Yang as an example. I like the way he looks, I can even watch his dramas. But I wouldn’t stand up for him seeing that clearly his facial muscles rarely move. Lol.
@SOMEBODY, the issue I have with the so-called subjective opinions is that there are people who forget that for a drama to be good, it must first meet certain parameters – Legend of Zhan Hai and Nirvana in Fire have them. Knowing that both meet the quality criteria, this is where my tastes come into play depending on one or more factors. In my case, I would say I prefer Nirvana in Fire because of my love for Hu Ge lol. It’s a matter of my feelings, and it doesn’t represent any disdain towards Xiao Zhan.
Now, being serious, who would think of comparing Rise Of Phoenixes with Legend of Zhan Hai, if the first one has severe problems in writing, which is an objective parameter?
The main actor is really amazing 🤩 try it now I’ll really recommended it
All I have to say is.. Yayyyyy🤭
I’m just so proud of Xiao Zhan.
Congratulations to LOZH and Xiao Zhan! This drama is really amazing! The best c drama i have watched in the last decade! And Xiao Zhan’s performance is amazing! Totally deserved 😄
Legend of Zang Hai is indeed very good. Xiao Zhan did an amazing job, the micro expressions, gestures, and voice!
I love that it has a realistic pacing, fast on some, and mellow on others. The love story is interesting but it didn’t overpower the revenge plot. This makes me hope for another drama with Xiao Zhan ang Jing Yi. The villains and even side characters also did great. Overall, I am happy I have watched it, and will surely rewatch. Kudos to Xiao Zhan for taking various roles (I watched him in Sunshine by My Side, Youth Memories, and Duolo Continent).
