Zhao Lu Si Juxtaposes Ladylike and Edgy in Cover and Pictorial for August 2025 Edition of Elle China — 21 Comments

  1. I have been a fan of Zhao Lusi since “Oh my emperor” days. What made her famous was her quirky charm and comedic timing. But lately her insecurities have gotten the best of her. yes she is skinny like a broom and the Chinese public must be thrilled that she finally fits their “beauty standards,” but the light HAS left her eyes.

Her famous charm has been replaced by a sense that she feels she needs to prove something all the time. She will probably make more drama in the future, but they will never be the same again. China got the “skinny and dull” Zhao Lusi they always dreamed of, but the world has lost a talented comedic actress. 😔

    • She one talented and as you said all above. Her dating in kitchen days when she look super healthy

I love her actibg because she has the talente of natural and not in vain. She doesnt afraid to look messy, dirty, boyish and all in her dramas..but now her looking like this i dont..she lost her charm already

      • Yes! for sure.
She was naturally captivating in Dating in Kitchen, so watchable, so full of fiesty spark and vitality. (like Lee Da-hae’s sparkly unfortgettable Joo Yoo-rin in My Girl tooo. Before her PS transformation()

Now the poor girl just looks wan.

    • I still believe she didn’t have to change her whole look and style to maintain her career. After all, she got lead roles and gained Chinese fans when she was just her natural cute and quirky self. Clearly there were people in China who found her appealing and marketable back then.

  2. i like her best in love like the galaxy and miss that her. the haters and the pressure of maintaining “top star status” has been really hard on her. wish her the best and hope that that her critics will be kinder to her.

  3. I dont understand how are the above really creative and good styling?? Farm life is great…but dress in style. Strange stylist.

  4. Hence proved! @ockoala is a lusi fan. She never post the same about other c-celebs.

  5. I agree she was one of the rare ones with some charm and talent. I always thought she would have been great in a Stephen Chow movie or in pure comedy.

  6. Lol I just noticed she dug up a plant and stuck it in her bra, she’s lost the plot lol

  7. I like Zhao Lu Si but there is nothing in this photoshoot that I haven’t seen before. The picture of the artist half submerged in the water is quite common. Lol. Elle China usually has variety from session to session, but I see an exception here.

  8. Whenever I look at her nowdays, she reminds me of Jennifer Grey.
She lost her unique looks(eyes, cheek etc.) and for what? I love her, but I don’t like to look at her. How can she even look into the mirror? I would hate to not to be able the recognize myself.

    • What’s the point of loving her if you can’t even look at her? What if you couldn’t do it? It’s not like everyone else thinks the same way you do or has the same weak mind, lmao. You talk about recognition as if these celebrities care. Hahahahaha.

  9. I wish I had the money to produce something for her. I’d get her a talented leading man too. Then all of us would ride off into the sunset because I’d make sure that the script doesn’t suck AND suck the life out of the production team. Lol.

The three leading ladies that need to stay in the game are: Song Zuer, Zhao Lusi, Li Landi.

  10. This Elle feature is so uninspiring – from the hair/makeup/outfits to the poses/shots – altogether looking random and sloppy with no coherent styling theme or high fashion vibe.

I’m not a Zhao Lusi fan but I can’t help but feel regret for the recent turn her life/career has taken. She used to be uniquely adorkable in a very free and uninhibited way and that was part of her youthful charm and appeal. These days, she not only looks different, she feels very constrained and jaded. Her career would’ve survived the flop that was The Story of Pearl Girl. It was the way that her alleged health issues and company abuse came to light, on top of withdrawing from Almost Lover, and how everything was handled after that (including returning to film Be Myself), that turned public sentiment against her.

Staying active will keep her in the public eye but to be relevant, she needs to meet with the audience through new works. She made some mistakes and she may be replaceable, but she’s young and for her sake, I hope she eventually gets a chance to stage a comeback and redeem herself.

  11. I am a fan of individuality and quirk (she has both), when done well, and she can act, from what I’ve seen (limited), so far. I don’t know exactly what is going on in her life but I hope that whatever troubles she has get sorted, and, while she looks great in the photos here, she should return, as soon as she’s up for it/the powers that be in the business allow her, to acting.

  12. I’m not a even a fan but can’t help but feel regret for how her life and career seem to have derailed recently. She used to be uniquely adorkable, a free and uninhibited spirit. It was all part of her youthful charm and appeal. These days, she looks different, plastic surgery or not, and just feels constrained, filtered, and jaded.

She would’ve survived the flop that was TSoPG. It’s the alleged health issues and company abuse that came to light and how they were handled that didn’t do her any favors. To add to that, withdrawing from Almost Lover and filming Be Myself really turned industry and public sentiment against her.

Being active to stay in the public eye keeps her visible but to be relevant, she will need to meet the audience through new works. She made some mistakes and she’s probably replaceable but she’s young, so for her sake, I hope she gets a chance to stage a comeback and redeem herself.

    • True, i agree that she has lost the light in her eyes but we all need to know that people grow up, people wanted her to stay a child which isn’t possible, and Although I agree with how the issue with her health was handled, we can’t deny something happened behind closed doors. I saw videos before she collapsed that was no pretense, that girl was genuinely sick and scared. And for the show, I watched without any external influence, and it was beautiful. She only talked about her pain in the first episode and people made it seem like that was all she talked about all through the show. I’m part of the few people that actually wishes that she stays away from the industry and live a happy life without all the vile and hateful comments she gets.

  13. I get people criticize her change in looks but maybe she just wants to mature more and might not want to carry the same cute roles she did early on. We age some more than others and so does our personal wants and needs. You all may find it hard to vibe with her now but she is changing and trying to grow into the person she wants to be. We should try to respect that. It is not the end of the world. She will learn and grow with the good and the bad and hopefully not get bullied too much by us bystanders and her fellow Chinese audience.
