First Posters for Period C-drama Reborn of the Rightful Manages to Fully Uglify Leads He Yu and Bao Shang En
The production of the upcoming iQiyi period drama Reborn of the Rightful (Yao Yao You Qi 窈窈有期) adapted from the novel Di Mo must really want to convey that theirs is a serious drama. Not some idol fluff like male lead He Yu and his most recent drama Speed and Love, because this drama is going out of their way to saddle him and to a lesser extent female lead Bao Shang En with some truly heinous costuming. It’s managed to make He Yu look so dorky it’s like his hotness in Speed and Love was a figment of our collective imagination. Bao Shang En also looks unattractive but more just boring and she’s really young but the look makes her matronly instead. But in a weird way I’m kinda more interested to see what the drama has in store, ugly outfits notwithstanding.
Guess they’re plugging the story into fictional Ming dynasty setting.

They look like they are doing squats instead of sitting lol 😆. It is abit awkward looking.
None of them were particularly beautiful to begin with 😂 and I doubt that their acting skills will be sufficient to make up for it. Looks like another waste of resources to me.
I dont think its ugly tho? I like this kind of styling and concept of colors. I just dislike the hat style on him thats it.

Same amount of powder on the face. Its just that this series is trying but maybe to some, inadequate. The day any actor or actress show real skin tone you know its super serious drama or the production stop caring.
He Yu has a track record of being hot only in modern settings tho…his period looks have been atrocious. Some actor/actresses are not meant for period costuming, and I fear he falls under that.
Hahahahaha. He’s darn hot in Speed and Love though.
I don’t think He Yu looks that bad here. Bao Shengen on the other hand seems to be cross-eyed in the poster. They could’ve easily edited that for her! I agree with an above commenter that He Yu looks better in Modern attire. He has had some atrocious costume looks, especially Sword and Fairy 1. He looked okay in Dashing Youth though.
He looked good in the quirky drama, Lovely Sword Girls. He was not a main lead there but the look suited him. For some reason every other historical he has been in the wigs just don’t suit him.

I also noted the cross eye thingy in bao shang en poster. So far I only seen her in the same sweet slightly pampered young noble lady. Despite her seemingly average looks and acting, she isgetting 8 to 10 upcoming roles so far!!!!! I wonder how she is able to do that.
