K-drama Signal 2 Likely Shelved After tvN Leaves it Off 2026 Drama Promo Slate After Male Lead Jo Jin Woong’s Scandal and Retirement From Industry
There are many shelved dramas in both K-ent and C-ent, ones that have never seen the light and others released quietly a long time after whatever scandal halted its release. The high profile big budget Signal 2 (The Second Signal), the long awaited second season to the hit 2016 tvN drama has likely joined that ignominious group. This week tvN released its promos highlighting the slate of 2026 K-dramas on deck and Signal 2 was noticeably left off. The drama was intended to be a tentpole release for the network and having it missing signals (pun intended) that the drama is shelved, at least for the time being. This sucks for leads Lee Je Hoon and Kim Hye Soo, and the cast and crew, to be so impacted by the scandal involving third lead Jo Jin Woong. He was revealed to have a juvenile arrest record for car theft and sexual assault, and later came a revelation that he was also has an explosive temper at times during his career. Jo Jin Woong apologized and straight up retired from the industry, but viewers may still have issues watching Signal 2 with him playing a righteous police officer. Even if Signal 2 airs many years later the momentum and connection with the viewers will be long gone by then.
