There is an interesting modern C-drama rumored to be close to casting next week or so. It’s a modern romance thriller titled Kai Dao Tu Mi 开到荼蘼 (also known as Blooming to the End) by HK novelist Yi Shu who wrote novels adapted to The Tale of Rose, Best Choice Ever, The Golden Years, and many more. The drama will be adapted by Tencent and this week casting rumors say Bai Lu is basically confirmed as the female lead, and the male lead is not the rumored Li Yun Rui but instead will be Peng Guan Yin. the second male lead as rumored remains unchanged with Chang Hua Sen. This is a darker tale of modern adult emotional trauma and second chances so will have the leads all going through ringers reportedly, so for Bai Lu I think a great change of pace in the roles she’s been doing in the period drama world for the last few years.
