Intriguing Spoilers for the Upcoming Episodes of Heirs
There is actually a very intriguing spoiler about the upcoming episode of Heirs/The Inheritors that got me excited all of a sudden. I always wanted to give Kim Eun Seok the benefit of the doubt that she mapped out her entire story far in advance and knew what she was doing. She wasn’t biting off more than she can chew, she really needed such a big cast to tell this story properly. The first half rather deflated that hope, but she has been known to start off slow in some of her dramas and need time to ramp up. I’m still liking Heirs enough to keep watching, but some things really need to get a move on. Some of the spoilers I encountered back in early Summer turned out all to be truth, such as those leaked script pages of the confrontation between Eun Sang and Rachel at the airport that read more like fanfiction but indeed became the actual drama. I’m hoping this latest spoiler is all true because it addressed some of my gripes with the drama right now. I am not feeling the love triangle at all and it needs to end. Young Do is not a legit contender. At all. Beyond Eun Sang not liking him romantically, she doesn’t even like him as a human being. I can get behind him wanting to become her friend, and maybe learning some decency and human kindness through her. But his interest in her needs to shift away from a dog wanting a bone to something less odious. Tan and Eun Sang also need to get a move on, if they have a steep hill ahead for them to climb, then they better decide now if they want to climb it together. Their chase-and-run routine has gotten so repetitive and stale. I do think that all the kids have their own problems, even bully Young Do and bitchy Rachel weren’t born horrible people, their parents and world around them created these mini-monsters. If the drama wants to do more than just present them as is, then turning the corner into the second half of the drama would be a great time to show us some transformation, character growth, and comeuppance.
Spoilers for upcoming episodes:
1. The script has been released up to episode 15. Next week, the “third wheel” butting in will basically conclude.
2. Another male lead Kim Won will move to the main storyline, while Young Do and Tan resume their bromance and have each other’s backs through the troubles to come for both.
3. In episode 10, on Tan’s midterm exam, he circled a segment and put a star next to that. That was a major hint from the PD, and the starred portion will come into play in the next episode.
4. Bear in mind, the crown still needs to exist under the starry sky.
5. Tan asks his mother for what should belong to him.
I’m trying my best to read this starred section and it is a coffee menu in the beginning with the names of famous writers and philosophers with a price tag next to each, the cheapest being Franz Kafka. The starred section reads:
I am done learning the poem.
Sitting with the crazy students.
Drinking coffee.
The cheapest kind
Franz Kafka.
Obviously Kim Eun Seok wants to use a Kafka reference or interplay the concept of Kafkaesque struggle for Tan. I vividly remember the opening sequence of City Hall when she marvelously used this fantastic line from Dante Alighieri “The hottest places in hell are reserved for those who, in times of great moral crisis, maintain their neutrality.” She ended up folding that line into the entire drama and the payoff of the drama indeed addressed this concept as the two leads stepped forward and participated in changing the world around them. Here’s to hoping Kim Eun Seok follows through on the Kafka reference in the second half of the drama.
YAY! Can’t wait for the bromance!
Is my heart pumping right now? I will keep low expectation
I agree, I want to slowly enjoy the development with no expectations.
The story is easy to watch and enjoyable so its flaws never bothered me much. Thats because I never really had any expectations at all. During the promo it felt fluffy so i thought i’d try it out & so far so good. Sometimes some characters show a deeper side to them which surpass my expectations so i’d enjoy it but thats it. If it becomes better then AWESOME. If it stays how it is then it’ll be an enjoyable forgettable drama.
On the other hand I had more expectations in mi rea’s choice (not much but more than heirs) I thought it’d be a story about the main girl – present & future – & a deeper reflection about oneself. Well its definitely NOT going this way and falls in the conventional type. With some interesting characters.
Oh please let that third wheel be Rachel…but I would have both of them butt out anyday;)
Alright, now we’re going somewhere. Here I go again… my personal dilemma, dropping this drama is yet again suspended. I think my predilection towards some of the actors causes me to continue watching. I just can’t believe that KES would waste a lot of their talents to provide us with a vague, no direction of a drama, but then you’ve always warned us about this train wreck Koala. So, while I am looking forward to a fresh new twist in this tale, I am cautioning myself to keep my expectations in check. Thanks for posting this spoiler Koala.
all i need is some rachel/young do development. is that too much to ask?
lol me too. Hopefully by next week the ‘love triangle’ issue will end cause srly it’s not even believable and bit interesting.
I agree… I remember KT saying to YD in the elevator “let us not involve our family into this… We already did that 3 years ago…
I think the consequence of that is YRA getting engaged to KT, when YD likes her…
I don’t know if this spoilers are true.
But I remember an interview were Kim Woo Bin talked about his character in Heirs, and he said the his story actually starts to unfolds midway through the drama. So I guess now is when we start learning more about him and he should do a little more that terrorize half the school and CES.
Ms. Koala,
I love you :). Here I was begruding the fact that we had not gotten any spoilers and then I check your blog and here you are to save the day. I read some spoilers on soompi but you are giving us more details. I’m really hoping these spoilers turn out to be true because I’m ready for us to get more insights on other characters and storylines. Thanks the info with us.
I meant to say…thank you for sharing the info with us.
raindrops1, whats are the spoilers on soompi? I am really curious. I have been watching the drama since the first episode and I am getting tired. I hope the drama progresses in a good way.
@chemie6, they are in line with what Ms. Koala posted here. The script is complete up until ep 15, The love triangle ending at ep 12, we will have bromance between KT and YD and that KT will ask his mom for what he has lost (Jeguk). Ms. Koala’s post is more detailed and reading that she has heard of these spoilers gives me hope that they will be true. The story needs to move forward ASAP and if these spoilers are true they would help to move things along.
would the love triangle be between KT,KW and CES?.,:)) Coz i liked the energy when KW and CES met at the cellar.,:))
anyways, thanks for this, been looking for some hints for the upcoming episodes since thursday.,:))
Oh god, at this point I feel that Park Shin Hye has better chemistry is Choi Jin Hyuk than with Lee Min Ho. But I don’t think the drama will go there…. (though maybe because clearly nothing is happening with Hyun Joo which is annoying!!!).
I noticed this too… CES and KW look very nice together. The whole storyline with HJ is such a bore.
PSH, CJH and KWB were on “Running Man” together recently… PSH was sooo adorable and talented in dancing; KWB was rather cute and shy; and CJH was very smart and strong.
Count me in! Can we change the main lead to CES and KW??
Is Tan intending to become an ordinary workaholic and sleepless busybody like Eun Sang? That Kafka’s coffee reference brings such thoughts to me.
Maybe Tan will have a metamorphosis yet be in denial of who he really is as in Kafka’s Metamorphosis.
Agree, there’s a big similarity to ‘Metamorphosis’ in terms of Tan’s seeing his existence as a burden to the family and dear ones.
Don’t know what to think of the spoilers. Won moving to the main story line? Kafka? What, is Tan going to go through some sort of metamorphosis and fight for the crown of Empire now? As much as I try to give the drama the benefit of the doubt, nothing is happening.
At this point I only care about Young Do and his journey as a character which let’s hope will be towards redemption. I always thought he was more suited with Eun Sang if only he wasn’t such a horrible person.
The scene where YD & KT wipe the window as their punishment, I just realized there that LMH doesn’t really suit to play as a highschooler anymore…
I wonder how Won can move to the main storyline… maybe Tan will step up and fight for the oompany. Won will pursue ES in revenge? this sounds horrible…
I’m wondering how Won will fit into the main storyline too. I’m hoping it just involves Tan and him working out their differences or fighting to be the eventual heir, and not include any revenge love plots with Won and Eun Sang. Btw doesn’t Won already have his own “Eun Sang” in the tutor, whom he seems to love but not pay much attention too anyways, they need to develop that relationship more.
LOL 😀
After watching 10 episodes of this drama, it is hard to believe KES also wrote City Hall (which is still my favorite and made me picky). The only future I see for Young Do is to metamorphose into the cockroach that he really is.
LOL, that was the only thing I remembered of Kafka, the metamorphosis of a human into a cockroach! That was seriously hilarious! Your comment made my day 🙂
Oh maybe, it’s gonna be Tan and YD who’s gonna be cockroaches together, well, cos the bromance is gonna be back 🙂 and mainly more importantly, the Kafka reference is about Tan, because perhaps Tan already feels a sense of identification with the cockroach, for being unwanted and treated as burdensome by his family. Tan’s line from an earlier ep is just heartbreaking: This house is more lonely with me here…
Though I hope the drama doesn’t follow the ending of Kafka’s The Metamorphosis, with the cockroach dying… and relieving his family of any burden. But since it’s LMHot, it’s most unlikely to happen, unless KES is in a mood to face the demonic wrath of hordes of LMH’s fangirls…
I am screaming!!! lmao
Forgot to shout out a ‘Thanks!’ to Koala :)Been rabidly searching for any signs of the elusive preview for the next episode, so thank you for cluing me in on what’s gonna happen for the next few episodes 🙂 There’s a part of me that really wants to see the love triangle go, yet there’s another part of me that still wants to see more of KWB… In any case, I do hope that the lack of a preview doesn’t mean that the actors are behind schedule for their live action shooting though…
The heirs is quite boring to me.
I’m a fan of Lee Minho,but still..
And Park shin hye with
her boring expression..
Her boring expression? Example?
perhaps it refers to her ‘surprised eyes’ are also her ‘sad eyes’ and ‘confused eyes’.. same expression
one big recent example is the last scene of episode 10, when KWB grab her for a hug..
@miki…I have to recheck. Because I didn’t see she has same eye expression. It just bother me a bit that there seem to be lots of surprise scene in this drama that we see the most of the wide eyes.
So how would one should react to that scene?
Thanks for the spoiler. I hope what you say will happen. It’s really so hard to watch Young Do and I don’t think also I can give up watching Kim Tan and Eun Sang.
I don’t want Won moving to the storyline. So far, his character bores me, I find him a big meanie (both to Tan and to Hyun Joo) and I honestly do not care about what happens to him and Hyun Joo.
I’d rather them stick to Tan and Eun Sang. I liked the camping part for showing more of somewhat normal interaction between high schoolers. So maybe the second half of heirs can show Tan and Eun Sang actually getting together and overcoming the odds, because that’s where I think plenty of conflict lies!
