Jang Hyuk and Lee Joon Cast in Upcoming KBS Sageuk Drama Red Single Heart
A classic style sageuk is headed our way with the big budget Red Single Heart airing on KBS in the first half of 2022 and the casting is just phenomenal. Jang Hyuk and Lee Joon are the two male leads in a fierce political struggle for control of Joseon Korea. It’s a fictional story so it’s not a historical real King. Lee Joon will play Yi Tae, the crown prince who becomes King after his weak father is dethroned. He aims to consolidate power and be the opposite of his father. Jang Hyuk plays kingmaker top government official Park Gye Won who is the real power behind the figurehead monarch. His goal is to enthrone a wise and sage ruler with him guiding from the shadows. The drama is from the screenwriter of Marry Me Now? and Tomorrow’s Cantabile.

I love Jang Hyuk in sageuk! I don’t really like him in modern dramas.

I find it weird that Jang Hyuk seems to be moving toward second-billed roles. I’d imagine as a male actor he still has some years left in him to headline a drama by himself.
I would have liked Wok of Love more had his character been the ML. Or if they had at least given his love line more screen time. He’s too good an actor for sideline bs.
I just saw Roy Qiu in a Chinese drama called My Treasure and he reminded me why guys in their 30s and 40s are the sexiest. I will never ever ever understand the seeming obsession with prepubescent androgynous looking male leads.
I can’t remember where I read it but I heard that Jang Hyuk is very money minded and tries to do as many roles as he can – had some trouble with debt earlier in his career.
I think you mistaken him with someone ese. He indeed a money minded person and like to invest. But, I don’t think he had trouble with debt in his earlier career. What I know is he was struggle in his earlier career to made ends meet same like any other rookies at that time.
He will be very handsome king. This reminds me of queen seven days with park minyoung and lee donggun as second lead to.. I forgot that actor name
Oh my drama pants been set on fire. Lee Joon & Jang Hyuk. This better be good. Never been so excited since Slave Hunter. I’m surprised why they haven’t said anything about a FL. Please don’t shoe-horned in a love triangle to spoil this dream bromance pairing.
It should be translated as Red Loyal Heart instead of Red Single Heart.
I will always love Jang Hyuk. I will never forget his Chuno drama. He had many and I watched it all but Chuno remained #1 in my ♥.
I hope this drama does well. His last drama is crime-thriller. This one is sageuk again. He is so fun to watch in historical. I also like Lee Joon. He has a drama to release on Netflix with Gong Yoo and Doona Bae. He is also on the roll.
